Staying cool in the heat.

Well, spring\summer is upon us, and I need some tips on healthy, good, cooling drinks and similar. Water with ice is classic, but there should be alternatives.
Here's one:
Fruit ice-cream (sorbet)
---------------------------
Cut fruit in pieces and freeze it thoroughly.
Mix in a blender. Tastes great, is icy cold. For a more "creamy" consistency, one could add a bit of natural or vanilla yoghurt, or some creme fraiche.
I tried it with banana and pineapple, and it was close to heaven.

2 large ruby grapefruits
1 lemon
100 ml vodka (minimum)
Mineral water (bubbelvatten)
Heaps of ice.
Squeeze fruit into large serving jug. Add the rest. Enjoy.

Sounds delicious! I'll try it some day. How about replacing vodka with Gin? Could be an interesting combination with the grapefruit and the gin flavour.

There's really no better thing to drink than pure water. I prefer it warm because you can drink it faster that way without feeling ill, but you whiners can have ice if you want...
Alcohol in the summer is great and all, but it donut keep you cool.

Actually. There has been research on the matter, and though it needs to be confirmed, it seems that tea (at least green tea) is not dehydrating. So, perhaps tea is okey?
Nah, just kidding, the only healthy thing to drink in the sun is whisky-flavoured ice-mocca's with a lump of icecream!

Tea does not dehydrate.
Some teas, such as the Pu Erh teas from Yunnan in China, have negligible levels of caffeine if prepared correctly.

Has anyone tried the banana sorbet yet? It was delicious. You really should try it. Just pop a few bananas in the freezer for a couple of hours and mash them afterwards.
Hmm.. I got an idea.
What if you did that, but added lemon juice, rum and ice cubes? Banana daquari?

Black and Green tea are not dehydrating containing antioxidants and therefore is not only not more harmful than water, but is actually better for you.
The caffeine in tea is called theine which does not stimulate to the same extent as the caffeine found in coffee beans. A typical cup of tea would contain 1-5 mg of theine where coffee would contain 15-25 of caffeine, the difference being that the caffeine found in coffee is also approximately 20 times more potent. Also theine is destroyed by boiling water.
And werd out to my brother's that have already dissed the speccy-clicky fella.

Are you just arguing with me, because you don't want to go against all those other people disagreeing with you???
Point was...
You said "bad"
and uhh...
There is far more of this "bad" in what you drink.

Things are far simpler in Jeff's world where everything is black or white. Me, I prefer colour.

Proving both your points is this unrequited post I made:

Bullshit.
Anyone who classifies beer as "light" and "dark" generally doesn't have the first fucking clue as to what they're talking about in my experience.
Unfiltered and aged beer contains more congeners which is one of four reasons why alcohol causes hangover. Congeners are found in the less clear alcohols, such as ales, red wines, stout and whiskies. This contributes to the headache as well as the ADH issue below.
The most prominent symptom of a hangover is the headache which is normally caused by the type of alcohol, but is often exacerbated by drinking too much water. Alcohol forces a decrease in the production of our anti-diuretic hormones, we crave, drink and actually retain too much water which causes the severe headache normally associated with a good hangover, so often drinking water to cure the hangover is feeding the flames.
Acidosis another cause of sickness during the hangover does not affect us because we have high blood alcohol level, it's caused by acidity of the blood being too high which happens after alcohol is withdrawn and the body attempts to normalise itself
after the blood alcohol drops to trace levels. This problem causes sickness. The hair of the dog method of hangover relief is well documented and the reason why so many attest to it being a working cure for the hangover is because it relieves some of the nausea caused by the body reacting so badly after it has purged all alcohol from the blood. The affects are short-lived though.
The tiredness associated with alcohol consumption and the hangover is caused by drunkenness' affects on our brains which causes the body to lose hours when we sleep. The affects of being drunk rob the body of it's normal ability to regenerate itself at normal speed, cutting our ability to refresh quite significantly, meaning an 8 hour sleep only provides approximately 3 hours of rest, resulting in irritability and often extreme fatigue.
Of the four contributory factors of the hangover, only one (the level of congeners ) are affected by what you drink, and contrary to what is believed (as with almost all the symptoms of hangovers) is more likely to affect you if you drink what is considered 'good' quality alcohols such as non filtered beers, ales and stouts, whiskies and red wines. The age of the alcohol also affects the level of congeners within, the rule of thumb being the older the alcohol, the higher the content which in turn equates to a worse hangover.
For your information, there is no real hangover cure, the only thing you can do is wait for your body to adjust.

Not drinking alcohol on a hot day is a fairly moronic idea anyway.

If you don't drink alcohol on a hot day, especially shitty, low quality freezing cold beer then you're probably gay in the bum.

I don't believe this for a second; or, if it is true, it doesn't come into play nearly as often as simple dehydration does.

Bad for keeping you cool.
Which is the point of this thread.
Coffee is bad for some things, good for others.
If you tell me you're entering a road race with a pickup truck, I might say "bad", but if you told me you needed it to move all your shit, then it would be good.
I don't see what's so terribly controversial about this.
Shhesh.

STOP PRESS. We'd better re-write the fucking medical books then.
