not many good films floating around , for a while . i gues they are saving them for the holiday season .

i heard we might start seeing more and more 3D films , they are dificult to pirate so = $$$ .
the finished product is just the garbage left over from doing the work.

Juno - despite all the dissing here, I loved it. Well casted, funny, human. Ellen Page was awesome.

Buffalo 66 (better late than never). Gallo is cool as fuck. My favourite performance from Ricci ever. Superb. Loved the gnarly humour.

Cinema Paradiso. I got sucked in and started blubbing about halfway through despite the rotten acting from just about everyone. Very cutesy in places, but the passion for cinema is infectious.

Ratatouille - not bad, but not a patch on Wall-E. Worth watching with the kids. Make sure you watch the B movie, 'Lifted', which is a pocket masterpiece.

I heart Huckabees. I think I wanted to punch most of the characters, but I think you're supposed to want to. Mildly amusing in places, really annoying musical refrain and some really bad hair. Wahlberg shone out above the rest

I actually liked Jude Law's performance in Huckabees. I hate that I just typed that.

Nah, I liked the little automaton that goes "home again, home again, jiggety jig". Oscar material.

Babel - a good yarn, sewn together well with some amazing scenery and nice plot turns, but somehow a bit smug and 'right-on'. The amount of shit that happened to people just got out of hand. Oh yeah and Guns Are Evil...righty ho...

Caught Synecdoche, New York Sunday. I don't know much about Kaufman, but the people I went to see it with do, and they seemed to like it. I enjoyed it very much myself. Wonderful performances from everyone.

Bringing Out the Dead

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0163988/

a scorsese film that i missed the first time around , it stands with a pretty low score on imdb 6.7 . i would say it was more of an 8.5 .

as you may be able to percieve from the title , Bringing out the Dead is a movie that deals with death and failure , dark , gritty and from what i have seen , possibly nick cage's best role , (never saw drinking los vegas) . at first some of the more surreal elements may seem a bit on the hokey side involving the recurring theme . while the story progressed i found myself buying into it more and more . if you ever have been really emotionally drained , sleep deprived , then toss in a nice dose of alcoholism you will easily be able to accept its main stretch of reality being paranoid hallucinations . a sad story with enough trauma to balance the insanity into a believable synopsys of a broken mans warped perception of reality . the film also features a GREAT supporting cast provided by Ving Rhames , John Goodman , Tom Sizemore and Marc Anthony as the craziest guy . everyone in this film has issues .

spoilers

the taxi driver parallels are visable , only to a point , this is a much more restrained depiction of a burn out's search for redemption . as usual there is the obligatory love story in there , involving Patricia Arquette in the role of supporting actress , BUT , , , they NEVER GOT IT ON ! , which is something that almost always bothers me about the typical hollywood mentality . enough with all the jumping into the sack and adultery . i guess you could say it is a morality issue for me , because gratuitous eroticism usually doesn't feel right , unless it's absolutely necessary and that for me would be next to never . the emotional bond established between the lead characters would normally demand that these two steam up the screen at the first chance available . in this case the romantic pay off that the film finally did deliver was poignant enough to almost bring me to a tear . that imho carry's a little more weight than getting a half a hard on .

The Descent - Not bad. Decent amount of gore. Has an annoying Irish chick in it, but she breaks her leg and dies horribly so that's OK.

The Wanted - Also not bad. There's a scene where Angelina is supposed to come off as HOT, but you just realise how disgustingly skinny she is.

Wall-E - Great film.

Just hired Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon. Should go well provided there is no shots of his cock.
Let you know how it goes!

i remember descent was really intense i have to watch it again , that was the chicks in a cave , right ?

"wanted" , havent watched it , the DL got f'ed up , is it worth it ?

the wall-e was way above expectations , i only wish i had gotten high first .

death sentance was fuckin awesome , it gets pretty carried away (no cock) just a lil goofy in a good way, i really liked it . post back about that one . i might want to do another viewing on it . speaking of slater anyone have a review for "he was a quiet man" ?

i know i come off long winded on my favorable reviews ( ).
short commentary is great for bad movies .

example : caddyshack two "caddyshack poo" .

but with something really good ,

the shining "scary shit" is not going to do justice .

i could do a few pages on most kubric films .

the main thing is if you are going to give key plot points up , label them as spoilers first .

we watched eagle eye , speilberg produced it , it really wasnt THAT bad for an action movie . its focal point was anti-terrorism and demonising technology . for me it's themes have been done much better in previous incarnations . the action sequences where unrealistic , way over the top with super tight shots and breakneck editing . i can only hope they can learn a lesson that too much is enough . not a bad popcorn flick , just fell way short of its potential due to its strive for hyper-reality . id give it a 5.5 out of 10 .

a few peeps have recomended this flick that i cant find called "the saddest music in the world " anyone seen it ?

Yeah, that's the one. I'm pretty claustrophobic, so even some of the earlier scenes (before "shit hit the fan") made me uneasy.

Depends on how long it takes you to download a movie. If it's ages i wouldn't bother as it's not that great.

Nice one! That's what i was hoping for. Great news about no Bacon full frontals.
I'll let you know what i think.

Punisher: War Zone - Pure R-rated gory violence with little story to bog it down. If you go in expecting nothing but mindless entertainment you're going to get it.

Death Sentence wasn't bad. It seemed like two movies in one. There was the drama of Bacon losing family members. Then there was the action film with Bacon clonking gang member's heads together. He looked awesome with a shaved head and huge scar for the end shoot out. I really didn't expect Kelly Preston to cop it.

Another movie i just saw, was a Spanish film called [Rec]. Loved it! I don't get frightened watching many horrors, but this one scared the shit out of me. Really intense. It's filmed with that hand held shaky camera stuff, but takes a big dump all over movies like Blair Witch. Definitely check it out.

ghost town

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0995039/

ricky gervais sells out . not a bad romantic comedy tear jerker , but a huge let down for anyopne looking for the typical RG style delivered in the office . if you are a fan , go into this with low expectations and you may enjoy it more than i did .
