Stuff for school, I just didn't read all the way through (Great Expectations)
Stuff I don't like, if I decide I've given it enough chance, I'll stop reading (Naked Lunch)
So, to qualify for this thread, I have to like the book until the ending lets me down. The most recent I can think of for -that- would have to be Carpenter's Gothic, by Gaddis. Great book. Piss-off of an ending.

In this category I'd place Philip Roth's The Plot Against America. The alternate pro-Nazi America stuff was really cool, but then he fucked it up by resolving everything too tidily and incredibly, as if everything else had never happened.ReverseEngineer";p="935048 wrote:So, to qualify for this thread, I have to like the book until the ending lets me down.

I'm impressed.
I ended up chucking it across the room.

Great Expectations.
i can tell if i hate a book pretty soon into it so i dont really read anything im not interested in.
although i thought the sonny bargers hells angels was pretty boring after the 4th time he'd been arrested for drugs and then back on the road, then drugs so forth.

Alright. I'm trying to get through this. Not sure if I will.
Not just this page though. An entire book.
Give me your thoughts on this writing.
Thicker than pea soup. And I hate peas.
There are moments when I crack a smile but they're few and far between.
What do you think of Samuel Beckett?

I'm supposed to know who she is?
Though I should be thankful he's making me look her up. Right?
