The French film machine is it's own thing. I don't think this particular film got much from Hollywood if anything. Jeunet is an ideas man.

But check out Irma Vep for some good in-jokes on the subject, vis-à-vis French filmmaking and Hollywood influences on popular culture in France.

I just watched The Wild Bunch for the first time.
A young El Guapo is in it.

I also enjoyed the movie.
If I ever shoot a movie there will be slow motion death falling off buildings.

I dont think its sacred. Its just not funny. Starving kids in africa are much funnier, because of the swollen stomachs. They look pregnant.

The Mist - A perfectly crap film ruined by a laughable script which has given it some authentic and undeserved comedy value.

American Gangster - Very enjoyable. How come Washington is only watchable in a negative role, like this and Training Days?
