Platform
Atomised (horribly translated title)
and "Whatever" (again, a joke of a translation)

Whatever is a dumb title but I like Atomised because it is a pun on the fragmented society/cloning thing.
I guess you'll also like The Possibility of an Island - it's like a sequel to Atomised. More of the same, and slightly disappointing, but enjoyable still, if you liked the others. I think Atomised was his best, and now it's downhill all the way.

The original title talks about the fragmentation, but also about what is essential for life. I agree that atomised covers those too, but it's so short and "catchy". Perhaps it does fit better than I first thought.

Yeah, I'm going to read "The possibility of an Island" and probably Lanzarote one of these days, but I'm starting with Pessoa now, and I also have loads on my curriculum. (Studying literature).

Pessoa's The Book of Disquiet is a work of absolute genius. If you like that, I highly recommend EM Cioran's A Short History of Decay.

Didn't like Lanzarote. It's like a sketch for a novel.

I'm quite taken by Pessoa. I've read The anarchistic bankier and that other short one (satan's daughter or something??) and now The Book of Disquiet. I'll check out A short history of Decay.

I'm also quite a fan of Lovecraft, so I'll probably have to check out Houellebecq's book on him too.
