Just finished watchin this lil ditty and I'll write more on it later, but suffice to say, though it's not as good as the book (obviously), it's pretty damn nice. Grenuille isn't the grotesque he should be, but he's well played, as are all the cast and there are some very stunning redheads in it.

Only minor liberties taken with the adaptation, can't quite capture the full descriptive nature, nor Grenuille's mindset fully, but an adequate job was done none the less, with only one major plot point removed (that I can recall)

The scene of ecstacy near the end is every bit as good as I imagined it.

Definitely check it out.

I already said it elsewhere (the Kubrick thread, in miscellany).

The lighting in this film is superb.

Can we please not make films about serial killers for a year?
Just a year that's all I ask.

Hey, while we're at it, let's not make films based on novels, or films based on comic books, or films based on cartoons, or films based on lame SNL skits, or films based on musicals, or shitty romance comedies. Yeah, take that, Hollywood!

I love the fact that you clearly know nothing about this story.

Watched this last night.

At times I thought this film was fantastic, but my devotion wavered.
It's more than ten years since I read the book, but it did feel like a lot of the vibe I got from the book was missing.
That said, the film's imagery was fantastic.
The lighting and close camera work were superb (the lighting grabs you by the balls from the first scene).
Hoffman was a miss. Really bad choice.
Grenuille was acted well, but he wasn't my Grenuille.
I SINCERELY HOPE YOU CUNTS NEVER BUILD PLANES
