Elaboration from one of you please?
I've seen nothing about this film and yes, I could google it, but that would stifle conversation...

Re: District 9
One of my friends praised the acting and how character-driven the piece was, but I found the characters to be little more than plot devices, doing things not because they're the sensible things to do, but because it serves the story. After several betrayals of the 'anti-hero' protagonist against the only creature on the planet that wants to help him, the easily-identifiable alien is too quickly and readily forgiving. The score was very derivative. And there's a giant fucking robot for no reason. They went laughably overboard demonstrating how evil the evil corporation was, and kill that fucking military dude already.

Re: District 9
agreed
but analyzing too much kills the entertainment value
it's not a movie that requires much thought

Re: District 9
What it requires is suspension of disbelief, and it failed to get that from me.

Re: District 9
great sci fi movie .
loved the whole dark underbelly aspect of it .
i would say its a pretty original idea as well .
not too preachy , but like someone said , a lot of the actions of the human characters didnt make sense . some of it was very silly . my only minor complaint .
cant wait to see it in better resolution , all though it looked pretty good on the toilet water copy i saw .

Re: District 9
Yeah, why are the humans trying to prevent the aliens from going home, when everyone wants them to just go home? That annoyed me: I guess it was a comment on blockhead corporate unthinking greed, but still.

The MNU wanted access to their tech, hence the hunt for Wikus

Re: District 9
the biggest problem for me was how the robot suit could stop bullets at first
and later with the main character inside, he's susceptible to them
BULLSHIT!
