The Stranglers

Saw 'em last night, their drummer is half machine, half decrepit old man, their keyboard player plays lots of tinkly noises, no one knows who their singer/guitarist is, but he looks like Jon Hudson and the French bassist is still a moody git.
First song was ok, second song, the drummer's drum machine (he can't use his feet) failed, so they took three attempts to get the song going, then they reverted to classic songs; always the sun, peaches, golden brown, no more heroes etc. 2 bloody encores as well.
Support from Wilko Johnson (original Dr Feelgood/Blockheads guitarist), who was joined on bass by ex-Blockhead Norman Watt-Roy and some drummer for hire. They were a lot of fun, decent musicians with good showmanship and some guy with a beard and a shit voice.
Not the most exciting gig ever, but a good night oot.

I saw them in 1983, when JJB still had rather spiffing legs.

I should be there in April - coming over to surprise my Dad for his Wedding anniversary and take him to Islay to piss plenty of Laphroaig against a stone wall. That will be end of April, so I'll be gallivanting around Skatlin either side of that. A trip to Edinburgh will definitely ensue - I am just waiting for my brothers to buy into my Isaly trip and will let you know.

I'd only be in it for Rattus Norvegicus, but I did watch a bunch o' newish clips recently and they seemed to rock it.
I'm guessing you Eurpean guys get certain 'old' acts (a very loose term with no built in connotations) quite cheap. I got Celibate Rifles a few years back. Cost fuck all and sold fuck all but they put on an amazing show
A couple of years ago one of my fave bands covered Peaches and I just wanted to get smashed and watch Keith Floyd.

Never been to Glastonbury - always been too hip for me.
This was my first Reading festival, and jolly good fun it was too. I guess the coolest thing was seeing Thin Lizzy with Phil Lynott, although lying around with a big gang of pals on spiky grass that was spontaneously combusting in the heatwave, drinking cider whilst ten Years After bluesed away the afternoon is my fond, lingering memory.
