Jesus Lizard Release Singles Box for Record Store Day

The legendary Chicago indie Touch & Go has been having a tough time of it lately. Last week, we reported that the label would shut down its distribution arm and cease releasing new music for now, which sucks in every conceivable way.

But Touch & Go isn't disappearing just yet. And come April 18, Record Store Day, they'll grant a huge favor to aging indie dorks everywhere when they release Inch, a 7" box set of out-of-print material from notorious Chicago pigfuck originators the Jesus Lizard. Just like every other Record Store Day exclusive, Inch will be available exclusively at independent record stores.

INCH is a collection of all the 7” singles The Jesus Lizard released on Touch and Go, lovingly remastered by Bob Weston and enclosed in a foldable clear plastic package, suitable for both compact storage and bedroom wall display. Adding to the allure is the fact that each 7” has been out of print for over six years, so finding any one single (let alone all of them) at a store has been near impossible. Also included here is a 7” of “Puss”, the Jesus Lizard half of a split that they did with Nirvana immediately after that band blew the fuck up.. Still not enough? INCH also contains the “Gladiator” single, originally given away exclusively at a Jesus Lizard Brixton Academy show in London back in 1992 and nowhere else.

And as we reported last year, the Jesus Lizard are all set to reunite after breaking up a decade ago. They'll play their first reunion gig at ATP's The Fans Strike Back festival, which goes down in Minehead, England May 8-10. They'll also play London's Forum on May 11 and Barcelona's Primavera Sound Festival, which runs May 28-30. And they've got more dates on the way.

Here's what you'll get with Inch:

A Chrome
B 7 vs. 8

A Mouthbreather
B Sunday You Need Love

A Wheelchair Epidemic
B Dancing Naked Ladies

A Gladiator (live)
B Seasick (live)

A Puss

Lash 3x7":

A Glamorous
B Deaf as a Bat
A Lady Shoes (live)
B Killer McHann (live)
A Bloody Mary (live)
B Monkey Trick (live)

A (Fly) On (the Wall)
B White Hole

whoever wrote that thing must be living in a sucky neighborhood devoid of decent record stores. i think this bootleg 7" is harder to find and worth more than any of their commercial 7"s:
