rising up and rising down

have any of you guys plowed through this entire thing?

do you read any william vollmann at all? it seems people either love him or hate him

i have no idea, but im interested in reading the abridged version of this, even if it turns out to be 'hi im some guy, heres what i think about everything for 3924839 pages'

all i know about the guy is that he used to look like this:

whats it about cause i know the roots got the name from this book, im actually reading the tipping point which is another title of one of their albums and its amazingly good. so im guessing they choose the title's for their albums of really good books.

Gave a paper on him in SF recently and managed to even do a mini tour of the Tenderloin yippee
