What a bad-ass monster movie. Right up there with the first Alien.

That makes me want to see this.

YES!!! This movie is so incredibly great! At least the best monster film since Alien.
Five out of five stars...
(I had no expectations, though)

"On a par with
Jaws"?
yeah, but you see the creature a helluva lot sooner. And it's still good and creepy.
I think Alien's the better comparison, but that's just me.

Jaws wins this duell if you ask me, thanks to its whole package, music, everything... I love Jaws!
Alien is the better comparison, although the Host has a comedy touch to it..

the music in The Host takes it, over Jaws, especially during that last half hour.

I liked it.
A lot of Anti-American propaganda in it too.

Political comedy wrapped in Godzilla-paper.

The Host rawked. Unconventional.

Alien was laughable.

Whoever got Geiger to do the art direction is.

...to be commended for making 1979 a good year for sci-fi horror movies.
Giger didn't do the art direction. He just designed the bad guys.

Whatever, it's still hugely over rated. Darkstar was far better.

Were there many of them, in '79?

Cronenberg's The Brood
Tarkovsky's Stalker
... and a bunch of other b-grade films.

Tarkovsky's Stalker - One of my all-time favourite movies. But seriously, sci-fi horror? It's like we've watched different films.

I haven't seen it. I intend to.
I was just using my IMDb skillz0rz to extract sci-fi films from 1979.

I guess one
could describe it as sci-fi horror. It's just that I don't it as one
at all. You definitly should see it, unless you found Solaris boring and don't like being bored.

Then you'll die of pleasure when you see Stalker. Tarkovsky
