I take it back...

I now dislike ALL Tarrantino films.

I really enjoyed the first three but now they are impossible to watch. They're too similar. I detest them for the same reason I detest Kevin Smith films. Idiosyncratic, pseudo hip dialogue. I watched Kill Bill two last night and felt an urge to smash my TV in.

I thought about what annoyed me (unnatural, faux intellectual, cliched dialogue, wooden acting) and I feel that it applies equally to Res Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown.

Watch the fims again and ALL the characters share the same voice and it's not theirs it's Tarrantinos and this ruins all his films for me now.

Cunt. I loved Pulp Fiction. I'll have to watch it with subtitles now :(

If anyone knows where I can get a badly subtitle version of Pulp Fiction, let me know. See: "My copy of Haneke has the best synopsis on the sleeve, ever!" for an example of what I'm looking for.

Hmmm... disagree RE: Reservoir Dogs dialogue.

I loathed Kill Bill 2. Loathed it. I was as bent as a Queensland cop when I saw it too, which tends to artificially endear movies to me normally.

Res Dogs is ever so slightly more natural than the others, but what I say applies to that as well. Will never watch any of them again.

*cries, puts on Dirty Harry and locks the door*

PS. I bet you like Scarface too.

Caroline in the car this morning when I spoke of this said "Jesus, I thought it was just me!".

It's official.

I couldn't get through Kill Bill... I recognized half of the songs from other, older, better movies... And even though I don't know enough about film history or whatever and I don't recognize all the other derivative/stolen things... it tips me off that they're present... I dunno, I still like Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, but they're filed under "entertaining", not "great".

You are all cynical and have robot hearts.

When I was watching Kill Bill, I was watching a fucken swordfighting movie. I dunno what you guys thought you were in for... Go back to sipping organic pilseners!

Before you say something you regret.

If it was a swod fighting film, why the topsy turvy dialogue to sword fighting ratio?

Because it was Tarrantino and his fifth attempt at trying to be Kevin Smith with stupid psuedo-cool dialogue with a couple of sword fighting bits in it.

You're not the only one who thinks this. The other day I girl compaired me to Marvin from Hitchhikers Guide.

Of course, she also added "you've seen that movie, right?", so I was left with no choice but to fully decapitate her...

Tarantino is a Kevin Smith who's seen a couple of Asian films.

I give him a little more credit than that. Kevin Smith isn't just a hack, he's a Hack God among hack men.

I like Kevin Smith, I think he knows he's a hack.
I enjoy that about him.
