i went to Villanova and loved philly. i was a frigging cheesesteak cook there for a while. i could move there in a second. there's probably a greater chance i'd end up in nyc though, way more jobs for me there.Rick Cave";p="901642 wrote:Uptown Manhattan.
Washington Heights.
And my rent is actually considered not too bad for Manhattan.
It's still fucking high.
I've never thought of living in Philly.
Give it a try.

Back to Rescue Dawn... the more I reflect the better I think it was. I was actually kinda dreading a Herzog attempt at a hollywood-style war flick. His one big flop IMO was when he seemed to try to make a somewhat straight film with Invincible. Only this time he went with really fucking good actors. I don't know what the budget was for this thing but he definitely did not skimp or cut any corners. Wonderful on-location scenery and tasteful SFX. It was faster paced than much of his work but there are a few undeniably Werner sections. I knew the storyline already but the film blew me away regardless. Very fucking tense practically the whole way through. I don't want to give anything away but there's a shot near the end involving a white tablecloth that seriously beautiful. Will see it again in the theater, can't wait for the DVD extras.

Y'know, I don't think this film was that good.
Beautifully filmed, esp. opening scene. Jeremy Davies was the fucking star. I think Bale was very good at whatever it was he was trying to do, but the characterisation was fucking weird. It was like some sort of gung-ho "USA! USA!" thing, but he just came across as a bit thick. And that last scene... What?

Ive seen quite a few Bale films the last couple of weeks:
Batman Begins: Seen it before, but had to refresh my memory. Its the best Batman film so far. I cant wait for The Dark Knight.
Harsh Times: Disappointing. Bale was great thought. Friends of mine said that he sucked in this film, just because his character is a stupid fuck. Wrong! He did a great job as usual.
Equilibrium: I hated it. Such a gay film.
Rescue Dawn: Saw minutes after I saw Equilibrium, and it made me realize how shitty Equilibrium really is. Certainly not Herzogs best, and it didnt blew me away or anything like that, but I liked it. Judas is right about that last scene... What the fuck?
3:10 to Yuma: Gonna watch it tonight.
