I recomend Il Gattopardo, Ludwig and L`Innocente by Vischonti. Great movies.

Also, L´enfer by Claude Chabrol.
Trouble Every day by Claire Denis. Beautiful soundtrack by Tindersticks.
Sous le Sable (Under the sand) by Francois Ozon.
La Pianiste and Cache by Michael Haneke.
Der himmel über Berlin (Wings of Desire) by Wim Wenders.

Il Gattopardo

And as magnificent as it was, it's too long and ponderous to watch now.

You're right. Fixed the spelling mistake.

Even though I find films like "Die Hard" fun to watch, no one thinks that is a fair film to recomend.
I know that "Die Hard" is a bad movie. I wouldn't want to recomend it.

Its not bad if you like it.

National Lampoons is for example a great film. Perhaps the greatest.
