In fact Ive hardly heard any of them, but a common quote about the film is that its worth it regardless if youre a fan of the bands...
Fighting, drug abuse, success, jealousy, schizo and failing... Its all there!
DiG was very cool. Hated both bands and everyone involved with them, but the Docco was pretty darned enthralling.
As I think I've mentioned, watch Overnight. The documentary about the director of 'Boondock Saints'. Its very similar in shooting style and the fact that one loathes all the main subjects and wishes them nothing but despair and downfall, which luckily, you get.
Oh yeah?
You know, I really really hate Boondock Saints, so this sounds cool...
I recently saw this thing called Getting Gilliam, where we get to join Terry Gilliam on the set of his latest flick, Tideland. I love Terry, and combined with lots of accidents and bad luck, makes this dokumentary a fun viewing!

I loved boondock saints back in my younger, and more formative years (zing!), and till I saw the docco, I wouldn't have had a reason to think otherwise. But seriously, the writer/director is one of the biggest assholes in history. This is made plainly obvious when he goes apeshit at the people who have filmed his story for years about 2/3rds in, and they (very reasonably) decide to paint him in the truest, worst light they can.
Don't know Getting Gilliam, but I was very taken with Lost in La Mancha, so I'll gladly check it.
Boondock Saints was in my opinion a stupid dull movie with a ridiculous plot. If you see it again, Iam pretty sure you understand... The "killing for God" thing was ten times cooler in Pulp Fiction, a movie I bet the director has seen 50 times. The black humour also works fine in Pulp, but fails on every point in Boondock. The dialoge is crappy and smells like Tarantino ripoff. Yeah, I know that Tarantino is mister ripoff himself, but lets not get into that discussion.
Dafoe is one great actor, but not even he couldt save this. Actually some of his scenes are really embarrassing, like the way he is working at the crime scenes, trying to be all cool, gay and unorthodox.
It pleases me to hear that the director/writer is a dick and its great to see that he hasnt done anything since BS...
Ill try to get my hands on that documentary!

It was kind of depressing. But very interesting to see that side of things- we would have never seen the disagreements and things had the film been finished. Why didn't anyone listen to the crazy eyebrow assistant director?

It's now released on dvd under the extremely literal and unpoetic 'Cemetery Man' moniker.
All I remember of this film is that it was funny, a little scary and very well made. It had a good run on SBS for a few years but have not seen it shown in a long time.
Is it just casual reminiscence that leads me to believe this was great, or....was it?

Hating is not cool Thunder bear.
Boondock is the kind of movie which makes me ashamed of being human..

Watch it again and pay attention to the technique. It's a well-crafted film.
Or don't
I rented this thing a while ago, and was totally dissapointed. Well, not dissapointed since I didnt have any expectations, but yeah. Anyway, I didnt like it then. Ill watch it again if its on TV some day.
