Too poor to buy anything like luxuries until recently. I'm buying some Penderyn very soon though. I recently discovered that Jack Daniel was Welsh.

The Welsh were the inventors of the longbow, the most devastating weapon of the medieval period.

This weapon was then employed by the English, who decisively conquered the Welsh in the age of antiquity.

The English were then, in turn, savaged by the Australians in almost every contest of strength, endurance and willpower know to man.

I never realised there were so many Welsh people. This one puts me off finding out if there is any Welsh in my lineage:
We're about to prove that Tom Cruise is a Welshman. A mission impossible, you might think, but you'd be wrong. Cruise, best known for talking into the mobile phones of strangers at film premieres, has deep roots in Wales. His great great grandfather Dylan Henry Mapother emigrated from Flint in North Wales to Louisville in Kentucky in 1850, at the age of 16. Tom's real name is Thomas Cruise Mapother IV, and many generations of Mapothers have lived in Wales. Nicole Kidman's ex was surprised to learn of his Welsh ancestry, which he discovered in a January 2004 episode of the US TV show Inside The Actor's Studio, which reveals family trees of the rich and famous.

The foundation stone of the Washington monument bears the incription "Cymru Am Byth" (Wales Forever).
Harvard and Yale were set up by Welsh educators. Harriet Beecher Stowe, Frank Lloyd Wright, Sinclair Lewis and DW Griffith were all Welsh. US Presidents John Quincy Adams, Calvin Coolidge and Thomas Jefferson were all Welsh. 16 of the signatories on the Declaration of Independence were Welsh.

The longbow was invented by the Welsh as Roark states, the Welsh were the finest archers in Europe too. This Image was a taunt given by Welsh archers to French troops during battle. The reason being was that Welsh archers when caught would have these two fingers removed to prevent them firing a bow in future. The taunt was to show that they still had their fingers.

England never defeated Wales. Scotland defeated Wales under English banners and in return the Welsh defeated Scotland under the same.

Forget Al Qaeda and the IRA. You are far more likely to be a victim of a Welsh seperatist attack in the UK than any other. The scale and severity is usually limited to the odd murder and a few house burnings though. No bombs or planes. YET!

See Battle of Orewin Bridge. The fact that the English army was partially composed of forces from her vassal states is irrelevent. This was common practice for those kingdoms which actually had vassal states.

Wales is my favourite faction in Medieval Total War: Viking Era. You should play it. Old, but still the best medieval battle simulator ever.
