Saw this! Was creepy

I've seen a few Kiyoshi Kurosawa movies, and I've enjoyed them all.

very entertaining- awesome old Pryor bits
and outright funny for more then I thought it would be

The first one I saw was Cure, which was a psychological thriller involving a cop and a serial killer. Story-wise it was only so-so, but there was such a weird tension and overall creepiness to it that I found most delicious. After that I saw Bright Future which I thoroughly loved. Hard to describe that one, but it's definitely not J-horror. I have a copy of Charisma but I haven't watched it yet, and I have Doppelganger and Seance on my Netflix queue and look forward to watching them.

I guess I've only seen a couple of his films. Oh well.

I'd put it up there as the most atrocious film I've ever seen. It is crass, racist, sexist, and offensive in pretty much every imaginable way. It is also almost entirely sans a script to speak of. The sole reason I was waiting for it's release was for Ed Kavalee, and the payoff is more than I expected. Everyone needs to see this film, I think you'll love it as much as I do. Try to be off your face when you do though. It helps a lot.

I've been listening to some of the old Get This episodes lately and Kavalee not-so-deftly changes the subject every time it's brought up.

Saw Brüno today. Didnt like it much. 93% staged.

Bruno - Nowhere near as good as Borat. Some truly hilariously sickening scenes, though

The Spirit - I know this received heinous reviews, but there was just something about this film that I really loved. Still having difficulty pinpointing it though. Probably the fact it didn't take itself too seriously.

The Love Guru - I don't know...sigh.. The entire movie is blinded by the brilliant colbert scenes.

Naked Gun: Is there still anybody that hasn't seen this? Absolute Classic

Sex Drive: Great what what it is. Marsden and Seth Green steal the show.

Dirty Sanchez: Not that i'd do most of the stuff these guys do, but found it kinda tame compared to similar stuff. Except for the lipo scene..

FarCry: Still not sure why we hired a Uwe Boll movie....

The Ultraviolet: Was expecting similar Equilibrium goodness. But it's fucking heinous.

Bus 147: Reasonably interesting documentary about a highjacking of a bus in Rio de Janeiro. The 2hr length isn't warranted though.

Tropa de Elite: Silly movie about BOPE (elite crimefighting squad in Rio de Janeiro), in the style of Cidade the Deus. Ambiguous message about prevalent corruption in the city (same director as Bus 147).

Adams Aebler: Hilarious, mesmerizing danish black comedy; one of the better movies I've seen the past months.

Der Gronne Slagtere: Enjoyable movie by same director as above; slightly less sharp, feels a bit more formulaic. Good nonetheless.

Terminator Salvation: Soulless, plotless 2 hr long MTV-clip. Horrible. All contributors should be shot.

Naked: One of the best movies of the 90's. I haven't seen any of Mike Leigh's recent efforts, but he'll never top this one.

Tropa de Elite bored me. It tried to be all City of God, but failed. But I loved it when that guy was burned alive

I had to google pictures of people burning alive, and now I dont feel so well.

Yeah, a striking scene. The complete disregard with which it was done.

The method is also briefly mentioned in Bus 147 by the way, it seems to be a common way of killing in Rio... Other than that the movie was pretty boring indeed.

I browsed the forums and watched the first 40 seconds of that vid and never felt compelled to return. Not that I was ever a fan of that sort of footage anyway, but some sort of morbid fascination drew me towards it when I was unemployed a few months back. Not quite sure how that mechanism works... Anyway, that video is fucked up beyond belief, it's devoid of any humanity.

I expected the worst and was blown away- very amazing job of telling the story of how the grey gardens documentary came into being
