I saw Changeling here the other day, the new movie from Clint Eastwood starring Angelina Jolie.
Too long and boring.

Mobiesque said a while back that he likes Clint better as a director than as an actor. I could disagree more. I cant think of a more overrated director than Clint Eastwood. Think about it, he wins awards all the time, and for what? His movies arent bad, but they sure as hell aint great either. Mystic River is his best work IMO, much thanks to Sean Penn.

Check this out:
Letters from Iwo Jima: Won Oscar. Another 16 wins & 15 nominations
Flags of Our Fathers: Nominated for 2 Oscars. Another 10 wins & 13 nominations
Unforgiven: Won 4 Oscars. Another 30 wins & 15 nominations
Million Dollar Cunt: Won 4 Oscars. Another 45 wins & 29 nominations
Mystic River: Won 2 Oscars. Another 41 wins & 64 nominations

Even the god-awful Space Cowboys was Oscar nominated :knife:

Changeling will probably win shitloads as well. Its ridiculous!

Underworld 3 - Rise of the Lycans is as bad as you think it is going to be and boring as hell.

I only went because my vamp-obsessed friend with no taste wanted to see it for his birthday.

these sorts of things are how people show their youth. Mystic River is one of his weakest films (and it's still very good, it just isn't the best source material), and the ones you listed are among his best.

you'll get it when you're older.

Watched The Strangers last night. Meh.

Followed it with Shoot Em Up, a brilliant satire of precisely the kind of mindless bullshit Quantum of Solace and other films like it gleefully wallow in.
QoS was definitely better than it was made out to be. It's good to have a Bond that isn't a complete ponce.

i'm willing to bet the people who make bond movies are aware of and embrace the ridiculous action we love

Dont be a wise ass, Mitch. Youre what..two years older than me?

Clint oughta change his name to Cunt, with his two and a half hour moralizing drama nonsense. All his films are either stories about the hard working female victim or the bitter and lonely old man, deillusionated by the world cruelty, but deep down has his principles and idealism intact. One hour and ten minutes into the film, he becomes the hero

His movies are always about the BIG FIGHTS between the individual and the "system", classic shit that the academy awards loves so much. I bet the awards will rain down on the old cowboy this year as well. As a result, even more Hollywood stars will stand in a line for his next project. They too want to act out their anger, sorrow, joy and despair, and win their own golden statuette. That, my friend, is why he is so overrated. His films arent bad.... just flat and monotonous.

Call me when youve seen The Grapes of Wrath.

Laughing at Chuck Norris stopped being funny over ten years ago. Actually, it was never that funny to begin with.

Btw, Thunder, I agree about what you say about Clint. I mean, I loved the guy as an actor, but his movies are american film at it's worst (ok, not at it's absolute worst). I like a lot of american movies, but as you said, Clint's movies are usually about an individual fighting the system, and that's just boring in the long run. I respect that this probably stems from the war of independence, and is a value that has certainly been kept in the highest regards in the state ever since (or that's the impression I get as a european), nothing wrong about that, but I think this could be a question of calling it either a tomato or a tomato.

Do you think Americans would appreciate and enjoy films made about people in your country?

I mean, does anyone actually know WHY American films are the de facto standard internationally? Once you've seen one antihero cop action romp set in LA, why would you watch another 300?

We're fucked as a species.

I dont hate him. I just dont think he's that funny. I did find some of those Chuck Norris jokes amusing, some even clever.
But I refuse to walk around with his face on my clothes. I dont like "funny" t-shirts like that.
Also Ive never seen Chuck Norris film.
