Re: reggae
i guess i just have to agree with sharppie on this one.
i'm brainfarting anything he hasn't mentioned.
apparently jimmy cliff is working on a new album. tim armstrong is producing. there's supposed to be a clash cover on there. i'm optimistic.

Re: reggae
jimmy cliff - the harder they come. i got a nice specimen of a record of that joint. i got it free.
record vender had the cover stolen, but left the vinyl. evidently a good-condition sleeve for
that album is worth MUCH MORE than the actual vinyl. What the fuck? i tried listening to a record cover.
it sounded like shit. WTFF?
i like this one lots. i probly one of my faves from probly the biggest innovator in all of reggae/dub
check out this fukkin compilation that dude from radiohead put together for Trojan.
IT'S THE FUCKING SHIT@@!! PICK THIS ONE UP!
check this one out too: Corey Harris' Zion Crossroads. If ur not familiar with that name then do some searchin.
Zion Crossroads he just pulled out of his ass a few years back (2008) and it's easily one of my top 10 reggae joints
you know it's good. it's on Telarc

Re: reggae
I haven't been able to stand Tim since since Op Ivy....maybe that will turn me around. *hopeful*
about 10 years ago a pack of us ran into Yellow after a show...he looked beyond nervous seeing like 5 skinheads coming at him. all of us ran up, got on our knees, started bowing, yelling "Re-SPECT to King Yellow!!!" dude was soooooooooooo fucking awesome...after my buddy whipped out a joint, it turned into a impromptu jam...kinda like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbCKOhfD3No - but with more "Oi!"s.

Re: reggae
i have to admit to liking some of the stuff on tim's solo album.
probably more for the fact that it was an aggrolites album with tim singing.
i dig those stories.
years ago when i saw the selecter, my girl and i were the only skinheads there, and the singer pointed us out between songs and said some sort of gibberish about respecting the true skinheads.
i stole some dudes wallet that night.

Re: reggae
you ever hear the Rhythm Doctors? the rocksteady band (there's about 5 other bands with the same name). they were half of the Aggrolites, and better IMO. they had 1 instrumental album...some of the best shows ever. I still listen to this album constantly.

Re: reggae
if you dig it, I can rip it for you....amazon has it used cheap, but other than that it's kinda hard to find.
that reminds me...another band that should be listened to repeatedly - Supersonics (with & without Tommy McCook).

Re: reggae
it's not that I don't care about/for it, I am just not very educated on the subject.
I plan on using this thread as an entry level introduction guide. I think I might like some of the
more negative reggae. wait, is there negative/not so hopeful reggae jams out there?
I know, crazy question, right? I just have very little trust in nouns that radiate nonstop positivity.
once in a while I guess they band aid/"are nice". I need to stop typing this post now. perhaps I
will try to devise a 18 word bump method rescue technique. you know, for that other thread.

meh...it's all covers...and it's very...'meh'
they're playing coachella, so maybe there's a tour happening...I'll go if they're headlining.
