I love beach boys, hate the beatles. I like Abba, hate Ace of Base. Keisha can suck a dick, but I would suck Lady Gaga's. Your reasoning doesn't stand up to scrutiny: you take the time and effort to go to a thread on a forum asking for recommendations to then publicly announce you are too selfish to recommend bands. I saw a dumb thread that has been done over and over with the same lackluster results so I posted a emoticon, and if I were to spat out some obscure album recommendation it would probably be the same ones from previous threads. Hell, I could just as easily say everytime you make one of these rehash threads you are seeking attention, and bands to name drop to some uninterested college girl you want to fuck.
