sounds like pretty much everything in the past 20 years or so.

can't find it right now, but there's a great interview on EQtv with Brain talking about recording Bone Machine tracks with Waits...trash can for a kick, manhole cover for a ride...funny shit.

Beastie Boys, Tom Waits, Neil Diamond, among new Rock Hall nominees
September 28, 2010

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its list of 15 nominees for induction, reaching back to the 1950s for Chuck Willis and the mid-1980s for Bon Jovi and the Beastie Boys. To be eligible, an artist's recording debuts had to occur in 1985 or earlier.

The Beastie Boys, Tom Waits and Neil Diamond appear to be the early favorites. The ballot covers a broad range -- Alice Cooper to Laura Nyro to LL Cool J -- but several rumored names failed to make it to the final ballot, among them Rush, T. Rex, the Smiths and KISS. Once again, Daryl Hall & John Oates were omitted.

The nominees will be announced in December and the induction ceremony held in March.

Rounding out the list of 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees are Chic, Donovan, Dr. John, the J. Geils Band, Darlene Love, Donna Summer and Joe Tex.

heh...someone gives a fuck....now.

Dec 15

Tom Waits is one of the 2011 inductees in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame.

The induction ceremony in New York City will take place on March 14.

Rolling Stone has a reaction from Tom Waits:
"I am still recovering," he said in a statement. "I never really cared about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...but now I am surprised to discover how much I DO care. I'm wondering if I did something wrong?" Waits exclusively tells Rolling Stone that his thoughts turned to his mother, who died this year, when he got the call. "I wish she was alive to hear the news," he says. "She didn't respond to rock and roll per se, but she would have loved to have a reason to get all dolled up...and...the idea of having a Waldorf salad AT the Waldorf Astoria, would for her have been the cat's pajamas. Actually, my mom made a pretty mean Waldorf herself!"

Getting into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is as relevant as winning a Grammy.

The Heart Of Saturday Night
Nighthawks at the Diner
Orphans

really?
I was tempted to put Saturday Night
but i haven't had a copy of it for years, so
I chose not to.

Orphans i have never owned - i thought it was a comp of
tracks that weren't up to snuff to make it onto other albums?

yeah orphans is a kinda mash-up compilation of sorts. it gots outtakes and standards and stuff. only like about 12 songs that dont appear on any other records. that's what makes it so good. it's one of his best for real. pick u up a copy of the 56 song sprawling madness today

1-tom waits is pretty damn good, regardless of age.
2-what's your problem with chris? i think he's pretty clever.

No, he's not. He makes highly predictable "insults" for retarded things.

If you're going to be the message board heckler (sad gig) at least be witty.

"highly predictable" is probably the last thing I would say about his posts.
