Interesting, I snagged a tour poster off the venue wall @ the Melvins show two nights ago.

Never listened to them, but the name sounded familar and I didn't want to get into them later down the line and then realize I missed out on getting the free poster.

Saw them last month when they toured here. Didn't know much of them, had given a brief listen during a Godspeed phase some years back. Absolutely blew me away I must say. Damned fine players and lots of changing around on stage. Well worth checking out.

There was a guy in at my uni who listened to Tortoise. His name was James Schadla but he called himself "Shags." He had buck teeth, bad skin and fuzzy hair: a monster. He lived in my dorm but never spoke to or acknowledged me, despite being in my course. One time he sat next to me in class and wrote HATE on a piece of paper so I could see it, then folded it up. So yeah. I'm skeptical about getting into this band.

Tortoise are fantastic! You're going to want to start with these 3 in this order:

Millions Now Living Will Never Die - 1996

STANDARDS - 2001

TORTOISE - 1994

I was not a big fan of TNT, too much chopping and editing.
I like when the band jams and it flows out kinetically.
They relied on the studio editing side of the band
too much for TNT in my opinion.

I bought It's All Around You, but find myself going back to
the three I mentioned on a much more regular basis.
Millions Now Living... and Standards most frequently
