This is Spinal Tap, the best of the best.

When Cars Attack, by the ubiquitous FOX Network.

That Moon thingy.

Loose Change, even though they claim it's for real.

I still haven't seen it. I have seen Best In Show, though, which I liked. But I feel once you've seen one of those Guest-type films you've probably seen them all.

It's like watching the Office, or Extras. You only need to see one episode to get out of it what you're going to get out of it.

Spinal Tap was the one that started it all, though. I still think it's great. It's the best of all the Guest-type films.

I also really liked Waiting For Guffman, but I didn't care for A Mighty Wind.

But it had Parker Posey in it!

...and ED BEGLEY JR!!!!

Jeez, what do you want, the Director's blood???? An organ????? Seamless and accessible comedy????

You dont like the Office or Extras? They are both great shows! How about Curb or Trailer Park Boys?

I loved A Mighty Wind. Levy was outstanding, Fred Willard was bigger than life, and Ed Begley Jr.'s Yiddish rap had me rolling.

The best 'variation on a theme' I've seen in SO long is Tristram Shandy. It took what is sadly an almost by rote formula and extended it a lot further.

Twelvety thumbs up.

wouldn't Man Bites Dog fit in this bill?

No. It shits all over everything else mentioned thus far.

Spinal Tap is brilliant, but Guffman would have to be my favourite. I don't know why, something about it just tickles me in the right way. Corky is probably a big part of it.

I was a big fan of Best In Show. It's probably my favourite of the Guest films.
