Had a Talisker 10 y.o last night.

A charming Islay single malt, with very smoky overtones. The nose is of gunpowder, pepper, and charcoal. It is clean, crisp, and smooth, with warmth and a lovely peaty finish.

Recommmended for post-divorce settlement celebrations and boardroom shenanigans.

I don't know a great deal about Scotch...

But, my friend was given a bottle of Chivas Regal that has been aged for 12 years which was bought 30 years ago and is still unopened.

Gonna have a couple this weekend.

Is this Good?

*begs for acceptance*

Chivas is a good blend.
But being unopened for 30 years doesn't make a difference.
Whisky only matures in the barrel.

Wouldn't even have to be a set! A solitary speaker would do...

Chivas is a blended whisky, Busta, which I'm currently a bit snobby about.

So is Dewars....

If any of you get round to the distillery tour, then Speyside and Islay are a must, Skye for Talisker, and if you can get to Aultbea in the NW Highlands, you could do worse than pay the Loch Ewe distillery a visit. They make single cask whisky and it's pretty damn fine. I was there in August. For a tidy sum they will let you make five litres of whisky. The casks are tiny so they mature faster. Go see them for the fill spiel.

well the owner of the company i worked at decided to continue buying me and another coworker lots of chivas..
which we felt it was our duty to drink..

my general manager and another coworker decided to go to a club to continue partying after dinner and many drinks..

im fairly certain i told this story on here already.. this was the night.. i stumpled around the dancefloor and bumped into the wrong guy.. he shoved me.. i whacked his hands off of me as soon as he touched me.. and continued to stumble through the crowd to get to where i was trying to walk to..

but i had a feeling he was following me.. so i turned around and he was already throwing a punch.. was about to clock me in the back of the head.. but.. i turned right into it.. and my forehead just above my eyebrow busted open..

i bled like a sonofabitch all down my face and all over the dancefloor.. everyone dancing just completely stopped and looked at me.. as i stood there with blood dripping down my face..

i have no idea how i didnt fall over.. but i didnt.. ended up with like 10 stitches.. and apparently the guy that hit me had a warrant out for his arrest..

this was the night that i was still drunk in the hospital after the ambulance ride.. which was required by the club..

and i was making all sorts of hysterically funny comments while at the hospital.. but the doctors didnt find me funny for some reason.. oh well..

Well, I thought that was a lovely story.

Finally got around to knocking back a few glasses of Scapa on the weekend. JHC, that's one easy to drink and tasty beverage. Praise for the Orkney Islands.

It was aimed at Rick, not you  Dewar's is probably the most comfortable compromise between quality, taste and price over a New York bar, so I'll let him off for sticking to it all night. Almost literally.

It's not ALL about you, you know ;-)

I've loved Dewar's long before I came to New York.
