I drank Talisker with a Scot last night.
Multiple Christmas parties with free alcohol will be my downfall.
Last night was the first of many.

By the way...Tullibardine is incredible.
But drink with caution. It goes down like water after the first drink.

hot damn, I have something useful to bring to the table for a change.
this past saturday when the roads were too bad for me to work
I treated myself to a delightful bottle of chivas.
I think I cracked the seal at 9:30 AM.
everything after that is a bit jagged, jumbled, blurred, and strangely enough - streamlined.

I loved the stuff.
I really really did.

I just broke into my bottle of Dalwhinnie 15.
It's delicious. Light mouth feel. Slight caramel and vanilla nose.
And some sort of freakish aftertaste that makes me remember being a child.
The good years.

string cheese and capri sun?

I have my feet firmly planted in blend county right now...
but once I stab a boot heel down into single maltsville, I will keep your words in mind.

man, I wish more people would contribute to this thread.
my new short term goal is to take a sip of the sauce and say aloud "chivas WHO???".

and by "short term" I mean "friday evening is right around the corner".

Time to go shopping. My short list right now includes Lagavulin, Scapa, and Tullibardine. Maybe even a Bowmore or and older Glenfarclas.

What're your thoughts on Jura, Rick?

I've never tried Jura.
I've stared at the bottle many times.
It might be a bit before I try it.

I spent my good Scotch money on GTA IV.

They only have the 10 year Jura at my shop.
Is that the year you tried, Toasty?

Yep. My grandmother used to do a lot of handmade expensive knitwear which she sold in Scotland. She regularly goes up there and visits the distilleries. This was the first bottle she ever bought me. She probably had it for free as it was also the l;ast bottle she ever bought me.

My grandma never bought me whisky.
She just told me to stop after two drinks whenever I was around her.
Is it a sin to ignore your grandma?

I bought a bottle of Jura 10 year the other night.
Problem was the man selling it to me was a talker.
Ten minutes after I buy the bottle we shouldn't still be talking about whisky.
He was mispronouncing names too. Each one hurt my heart.

My top 3 Scotches:

- Talisker 15 y.o.
- Glenkinchie 12 y.o.
- A 15 y.o. Highland I picked up in Pitlochry (with a really hard name).
