I wonder if people said the same thing about the six-buttoned controller for the SNES and the thumbstick on the 64.

I do recall reading complaints about the 64's controller back in the day.

I agree.
On a side note, I actually had a controller with a left-thumb stick for the NES.

Star Rangers 2 (PC) - Awesome game. Part Star control, part RPG, part RTS. Huge, fun, innovative. Highly recomended.

The main drawback for the N64 and the Nun chucks (Nunchucks are very similar to the N64 controller actually) ia that it lacks a second stick. Games like Goldeneye suffered for it. However, if you ever played Goldeneye using two controllers for one player and it was almost gaming perfection (the tapered handles meant they would start to slip out of your hand). Now using two nun chucks for an FPS would be a bit good.

If you've played the newest Metroid Prime, you'd know that the remote/nunchuk combo is pretty close to perfect, for FPS's.

Yeah, I haven't gotten bored of it yet, which says a LOT for a platformer.
This is the Super Mario series finding its roots, going back to the 8-bit 'frustrating, but not so much that I won't try to beat the level again' heyday.

I like this one more than I ever liked Mario 64
Controls better, for certain.

The only flaw of Mario 64 was the controls.
Make a new Pilotwings and I'd get a Wii tomorrow.

I'll say, it was enough of a flaw to make me apathetic towards finishing the game.
Super Mario Galaxy, on the other hand, I'm in love with. Even the bitchy-control parts (the rolling ball stages, the spring powerup, etc) are fun to play.

I "finished the game" by beating bowser, but I think I only got 96 red stars. I couldn't be fucked either. Me finishing that game co-incided with the release of Goldeneye which certainly killed my appetite for any other N64 game it wasn't so much a control issue.
