I really cannot stress enough how badass Lightroom is. These galleries are produced entirely by Lightroom, including all the RAW processing, tonal adjustments, noise reduction, sharpening and it even writes the goddamned HTML for you. It can generate flash galleries as well... the image processing appears to be top-notch, or at least it works a damn sight better than Adobe Camera Raw... maybe even better than Nikon's own Capture NX (everything in this gallery was shot with a D200). I've hardly used Photoshop since I got Lightroom.

I expected a way more vulgar response to that.

What would you use Illustrator for, if you were to use it? I don't use it either, although I understand it's basic premise...
What kind of web work do you do? Lightroom's web capabilities are pretty limited right now, although I feel like they're bound to beef up the gallery creation functions at some point. It's mostly good for workflow involving lots and lots of photos... if you're doing that it might be useful.
I'm actually even less familiar with ImageReady than I am with Illustrator... it's for preparing images for use on the web, right? What specific functions does it do though? I should probably know since I own the thing...

The only thing I use ImageReady for is animated gifs, where I can't use Flash instead.Jeff";p="897930 wrote:What would you use Illustrator for, if you were to use it? I don't use it either, although I understand it's basic premise...

I use Photoshop's masking, drawing and type tools (just to name a few) to create all sorts of images, e.g. menu items. Some of that could be done with Illustrator, but I don't need to.
