William Gaddis

Everyone who knows me knows I'm big-time gay for Pynchon, but William Gaddis is probably my second fave "heady" author. I strongly recommend The Recognitions to anyone who fancies themselves part of the art world. Then, once you think you understand the man, hit his second book JR and realize that he's got a lot to be angry about.

I just started one of his later books, Carpenter's Gothic, and while not nearly as profound (yet...), it still displays his impressive command of language and dialogue.
