I've been a bit homesick lately and stumbled across the TISM in my computer and have been on a huge TISM kick lately.
Fucking LOVE this band... I want to write Ron Hitler Barassi some love poetry...
I personally think their music is underrated. Great song structures, melodies and guitar work. And I love their vocal delivery. And their live shows were the SHIT!
For those of you who don't know of them they are an Australian satirical bizzare rock/techno group who always wore masks to conceal their identity (a couple of them were high school teachers) who were infamous for their piss funny and some times cruel interview technique.
A lot of their humour probably didn't translate well outside Australia for example "I'll Ave Ya" but here's a few song titles that might:
I'm on the Drug that killed River Phoenix
I Might Be a Cunt but Im Not a Fucking Cunt
Did anyone else here catch them live?

Re: TISM
A local record store owner kept bigging these up a few months back. I checked them out on Youtube and seriously wanted to hurt them.

Re: TISM
I saw them at the Big Day Out in the 90s.
I had the album with All Homeboys are Dickheads. But that's pretty much where it ended for me.
The Derryn Hinch went to Jail song was a cracker too.
They could be quite amusing.

Re: TISM
They're my favourite band.
Only band I'm actually a 'collector' of. I've been hoarding for 4 years now. When I got a promotion at my job many years ago I hit a rare record shop and spent $400+ on TISM. Nothing was rare at release, but getting it now gets expensive. I've even got both issues of the TISM comic book (it's awesome). Also snagged for a bargain, Ron Hitler Barassi's (Peter Minack's) novel Campaigning With Grant. He wrote it after seeing Ken Burns' US civil war docco series on SBS. Fucking hilarious. Wish he'd write another.
Theres a certain other feverer who's on the TISM forum too! *Looks at Brettles*
Only saw 'em twice. Festival Hall 98 sandwiched in between The Fauves and The 'Gurge (unit tour) and then their last big tour, the year after the white albun dvd (apparently our former mysterious Don Eduardo was highly visible in the crowd).
Cultural Icons those dudes. Never cease to cheer me up when I'm feeling shitty. They got me through the worst years of my last menial white collar job.
So many good B-Sides: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dinVW2n9ufI
...One day I'll find a copy of their book 'TISM's guide to little aesthetics' (ideally, non-redacted)

Ah awesome! I only saw them twice too. But they also did this question and answer thing with an audience that I went to too also. It was basically people in the audience asking them questions, and TISM giving them, well you know TISM answers. It was funny as fuck, there is no way I would have asked a question.
Also if you look hard enough on Youtube you can find Ron Hitler unmasked ...
How are you healing Mobius?

Hello, I didn't see this as I don't visit these parts much anymore...
Definately one of my favourite all-time bands, wish I put more time into them earlier on ie during the tism.wanker & De Rigeur years. Really didn't swashbuckler it up until the lead up to The Wite Albun, and only saw them live twice following that release. Totally relate to their sense of humour, complete disdain of the conept of fame, and pop sensibilities. Some absolute all-time best commentaries on culture produced by these guys, such as their record company receiving a letter from Bruce Ruxton telling them to pull the "I might be a cunt" single from the shelves, to them challenging RHCP to a fist fight, to the whole lawsuit with Ken Done.
I haven't really at all gotten into Humphrey's post-tism bands, really haven't given them a chance however I get the feeling they would be lacking Ron's brutal opinions. I'm holding out for Leak to re-join the band following Tokin's death...
