Game of Thrones
I dunno if anyone here has read George R. R. Martin's excellent book series, but HBO have started a TV series, and it is awesome (in my onion).
The production is just amazing, and there's quite a few bewbs as well. It's got Sean Bean in it.
Someone please discuss with me this thing that I'm excited about.

Re: Game of Thrones
Yeah, it's more about political intrigue and jockeying for power and stuff.
...and some bewbs.
I've always thought that the book series was like fantasy for grownups.

I'm terrified of Charles Dance.
I have nightmares about him walking up behind me at a urinal and whispering 'Delicious' in my ear.

Ben, you're obsessed with medieval stuff. Everytime I pass a castle now I think of you (which is daily)

Re: Game of Thrones
Totally excellent show still, btw.
Hey Benjamin, without giving anything away (no wikipedia for me!) do the books span a long period of time? As silly as it is, I really want the young little daughter to become a total meanass killing machine.
True / False / Gives too much away to tell me?

Re: Game of Thrones
The books written thus far do not span more than a handful of years, but I don't think you'll be disappointed in the slightest with what happens to Arya, dude, in terms of her transition from "helpless young girl who has to watch people she cares about being slaughtered" to... something else.

That's amazing. And none of them seem to be surrounded by protective anti-tourist/vandal structures. So they're just sitting there in all their purity?Eviltoastman wrote:I ride past Weobley Castle near Llanrhidian quite a bit

Some have bars on windows so you don't crawl into them and get killed but otherwise you just stroll about them...they're part of the landscape here.

Re: Game of Thrones
It still blows my mind that you guys have, like, dingy little local pubs that are older by centuries than any structure in my entire country.
We've got abbeys and churches that are 150 years old, and these are all hardcore protected by federal laws as though they're some kind of genuine historical artefact. Weak.

Re: Game of Thrones
My favourite pub just happens to be the oldest building in Swansea.
The Cross Keys, which is just off the south western corner of castle square. The castle is actually on the north western edge of the square.

I justv started watching Game of Thrones. Sky Atlantic had a night of episodes so I've sky+ (tivo) the lot. Saw S1 Ep1 last night. Good stuff.

The Butt & Bush is Toast's second favourite pub.

Re: Game of Thrones
I used to play pool at a pub called The Bush. ironically it was then turned into a gay bar and they replaced the pool tables for food and pink barstools. The should have changed their name to The Butt & Bush.Roark wrote:The Butt & Bush is Toast's second favourite pub.
