anyone who calls it 'funky' has no idea what funk is. I think those comments are based on the Bootsy-like fuzzy pedal thingy Les seems to not be able to live without lately.

So I'm wondering and guessing to myself in wonderment...
no one's mentioned Opeth's new Heritage album.
Why?

Re: fluid grate albums of 2011
what are some of your guesses?
my best one is that no one here likes opeth.
wait, I think fredbob might(have), but I am not 100% on that.
my original best guess was "the same reason that new anthrax isn't on here"
which actually brought me to the more refined and rational best guess.
not trying to make the most business sense here. just posting on a message board.

I haven't really ever wanted to check Opeth out but I hear the new album has a 70's prog vibe that works for themYucky Buckets wrote:So I'm wondering and guessing to myself in wonderment...

anthrax isn't here because it doesn't apply...the new one is okay...but kinda same-old, same-old...far from "grate."
that's like asking, "why isn't the new tori amos in here?"
...well...cause...it puts you to sleep like baby-time lullaby. [/russian accent]

Re: fluid grate albums of 2011
I have had plenty of "grate" albums/movies/humans put me to sleep, but regardless if one of the pre mentioned recordings
puts one to sleep, awakens one's inner child, or causes one to set fire to sleeping nuns, my point was/is that people here
(to the best of my knowledge) do not care for anthrax very much like they do not care for opeth.

Re: fluid grate albums of 2011
Haha Opeth. They had something going on about ten years ago. Nowadays it's all prog rock nostalgia flatulence: it's like they're smelling King Crimson's farts or something. And King Crimson are kind of overrated too.
Tori Amos always sucked. Anthrax always sucked too, though I have a soft spot for their attempts to be grunge: I have a soft spot in fact for every band that attempted to be grunge, such as Skid Row or Motley Crue: but only on their "grunge" albums. When they return to the 80s crap they lose me, and my respect.
Lately I've been listening to aggressive white boy hiphop like La Coka Nostra, Necro, Jedi Mind Tricks, Ill Bill, etc. But I wouldn't ever try to convince anyone that it's great music. Also I have been rediscovering Ultraspank. Nu metal forevah.

Re: fluid grate albums of 2011
saying something is overrated is overrated as in... people put way too much
faith in the idea that an opinion that differs from their own may actually be the "correct" of the two.
I have never stood behind or endorsed this term. the day it makes me second guess a decision I have
made is the day amy grant dresses up exactly like gene simmons circa 1989 (yes, right around the time
they got the haircuts) and rapes the corpse of waylon jennings with the room temperature severed leg
of a snow leopard while perched upon the peak of the burning hollywood w.

if this album were a female i'd do unspeakable things to her. she would do equaly unspeakable things to me. our secrets would be safe with each other, and a video file and only her and i can view.

Re: fluid grate albums of 2011
naw them boy are okay. sorta like a minimalist black-metal between the burried & me.
i only heard a lil bit. liked what i heard. i was merely mentioning them to perhaps produce
a spark on this wet piece of bark. i rilly dont know how much (to what degree & whatnots)
i get into the black metal melee. at first i thot black metal was like 24-7 spiez or fishbone.
let me tell you know i was surprised as anyone winning the lotto when they never even bot
a ticket. who wants a ticket to the gun show? it'll cost you one titty-twister and 2 noogies.
