It really nailed the "hey, we haven't played this game in a few years" atmosphere in the first 20 minutes.

When I finish the single player (perhaps today), I'm going to call all you Xbox guys out for co-op.

got angry birds , portal (the first one) , starcraft 2 , garys mod , and spore (one) for my pc .

portal is kinda neat , angry birds is fun , have yet to try the others .

picked up a guitar hero2 controller (4 bucks), mod'ed the shit out of it , got GH 2 , GH 3 , a mic and the Beatles rock band . not bad for 30 bucks all together . as you can see , my video game stuff is usually at least 5 years out dated , but i really like to get by on the cheep cheep when it comes to vijoe games . that and i was playing zero hour for ten years .

what are the better titles for this sort of thing , guitar hero . i dont really think i will end up buying drums , but a second guitar would be cool for bass . thats only on rock band , right , pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff . my daughter really got a kick out of it . till gomti broke the guitar ! (bad cable) .
the finished product is just the garbage left over from doing the work.

Pick up Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. That's often overlooked and you're probably get part 1 and 2 for $10 total.

Rock Band 3 has a real guitar (a squier strat) that you can play with it. It wins.

but he's also a gadget wonk so I'd think he'd love voiding the warranty on that thing and making something crazy with it.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River. Finally an FPS on the console not made for retards who just want to ride a roller coaster and let the game play them. Ai a bit squiffy but still awesome.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Graphically substandard, costumes and theme is old hat near future fare. Not great. Music is typical of the "timing" and location. Sounds like Perfect Dark. Dialogue was recorded in a room which is prone to echo. The actual script is okay, a bit thin but a little more padded than most first person shooters, the production values are far lower than we get from the majors these days.

On medium difficulty the game is incredibly easy. Missions are entertaining enough, the world is great, the city of Singapore is wonderful. AI is the best I have seen in a first person shooter after suffering with crap friendly AI in Operation Flashpoint: red River and very very poor enemy AI in Crysis , Deus Ex was a joy to play.

Levels take aeons to load, even after installing the thing to the 360 HD. Combat is handled very well and the level designs are some of the best I've ever seen. Decision making is less about character interaction - though this ultimately does affect how the game pans out and opens up some superficial storyline explanations asd the game progresses - but is more about how to approach a particular mission or problem. The balance between stealth and frontal assault needs major tweaking however as with just minor modifications it is piss easy to over power the enemy AI which incredibly is very smart. They've just made the core character too powerful - even at the start of the game before you add augmentations.

The game is very competent and needed a better graphics and sound, these appear to be the net result of underinvestment and are not a devastating detriment to the experience this game offers. It's an average to good game that has lots of minor problems which could have lead to this being great. I'd recommend this to anyone but regular to hardcore gamers should avoid easy and medium difficulty so the god like character doesn't just crush the puny mortals he comes across.

Not into the PC stuff too much, but I'm currently playing Battlefield 3 Beta for the Xbox 360. It's meant to be even better on the PC, you should give it a go.

I bought Dead Island on steam over the weekend and am now addicted to it. Pretty good melee system with rpg elements.

Also still playing Left 4 Dead 2.

I liked Left 4 Dead 2, but never bought it or played an awful lot of it. I really felt Dead Island had huge problems, with collision detection and weapon arc and also felt the provision respawn made the game very easy and meant I didn't feel like playing it any more.

Batman Arkham City is absolutely phenomenal. Very Metroid meets, Assassin's Creed meets...Batman.

Finally got around to Bioshock 2- really love it so far. Awesome creepy shadows.

My better half really wanted to play Siren 2. Rock bottom, it's so dark and dimly lit that the game is about as fun as going blind.

I'm about a tenth into Bioshock 2, I really liked it though not a great as the original and if it weren't for the amount of quality games that have made their way to me recently I'd be tempted to get into it again.

It's a very special game. I much prefer it to the sequels. The art direction is very dated now but the detail and the freedom makes you feel like you're actually playing a game and not the other way around like Mass Effect and a lot of the recent sci-f/western RPG shooters do.

Did you like the original X-Com: UFO - Enemy Unknown (available from abandonware)? They're making a turn based "re-imagining" of it:

I'm quite excited by it.
