im trying to listen to the cd as if i had never heard the Amsterdam show because technically thats a bootleg copy we all have.

i feel like the cd has a nice style to it. pattons vocals are a little echo-y but i feel the point is to sound classic and maybe even "live."

i am not sure if pattons vocals will get old but i give him credit for keeping the songs somewhat original and not going all "fantomas directors cut" on it (even though i love that album)

i think if this was our first experience to mondo cane we would all love it. the problem is listening to it without having the bootleg stuff to much in your head.

I'm so disappointed "legata ad un granello di sabbia" wasn't on this CD - a favorite of mine too.

Exceeded my expectations on this. It is beyond what I imagined it and am absolutely taken by it.
You really get a true sense of his intentions with these covers, more so than with the live performances.

I do lament the exclusion of 'legata ad un granello di sabbia', 'Lontano lontano' and especially 'Storia d'amore'... it's Celentano ffs!

Non posso aspettare per la prossima Mondo Cane ... cazzo questo è un gran lavoro! Grande Mike Patton!

not sure what ya mean

but if ya mean like the reviews said how he made the songs very nice and there's "no weirdness for weirdness' sake"...
i was interested at that point and then listened and heard all these weird spacy effects in the songs and didn't understand the reviews anymore

there's so much i don't understand

It's pretty good. There's only two song there in the middle that are bland like the taste of dogshit.

Coming from an Italian background, I grew up with some with some of the Mondo cane songs. Patton had mentioned in interviews that he had put his own spin on these covers to make them his own. However, after seeing the live versions, I'd say 90% of the time the covers were very close to the originals.

Yet, to me, the production Patton has put into it shows the music in a new and fresh light. He has made them his own in many ways an it is great to hear this music interpreted this way. It is still great Italian music - but my gosh it is miles ahead of almost all contemporary Italian pop music which is utter shite.

I'll be very interested to see how this release goes across in Italy.

I'm still pissed about no 'Storia d'amore' ... the chorus rules and that trumpet solo finale are the bee's knees.
