You should try that IPA-Triple if you can find it. It's pretty great.

I've got a friend who's doing the same thing. It's the way to go if you're brewing your own. The non-rinse sanitizer you're supposed to use when bottling gives you the shits, apparently.

ive been making a killer ipa.. a replica of www.capecodbeer.com 's ipa..

Shaina's avatar reminded me of how great this one is:

It reminds me of cream soda... but in a way appropriate for beer... it's pretty amazing.

I discovered that Kirin Ichiban, while quite drinkable, is not a patch on Asahi Super-Dry.

Because it's not imported. It's brewed locally by Lion Nathan. It's effectivly Toohey's Spew.

Sapporo's my Japanese beer of choice.

I did a side by side of two American Pale Ales last night...

The Sierra Nevada is a classic of course, it is basically the benchmark for the APA style... however I have to give the Ipswich a slight edge... while the SNPA is more focused on hops, the Ipswich has a bit more malt and a serious spicy yeast presence (almost tasted a bit belgian), and I felt it had a more complex flavor overall.

english ales is a local brewery. (i think it's completely cheesedick that they throw the 'english' tag in there, it's very american micro) and this pale rocks face all over SN and ipswich.

jeff, we should come up with a micro-brew exchange. i'll ship you a sixer of some local goodies for a trade.

Jeff";p="759895 wrote:The crazy thing is that up until a couple decades ago Bud/Miller was all we had... Coors was actually considered pretty high grade stuff when it first came out. Then Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada and Anchor came along, and next thing you know we've got double IPAs and Imperial Stouts coming out the ass.

Sierra Nevada is a great brewery. The pale ale is great, the porter is great, the stout is great, the Celebration ale is fucking amazingly great (big 'ol IPA), hell even the wheat is pretty good... the amazing thing is you can get SN anywhere, all over the country, yet I've never seen a single ad for them anywhere. While Sam Adams runs millions of dollars worth of slick TV adds designed to convince you it's all made in a single local brewery in Boston, SN is nearly as widely distributed but it just exists on it's own merits... and it should, it's a world class beer. Purest ingredients, finest quality.

Goddamnit I am such a beer geek...
did i ever tell you that i went on a date with the daughter of the guy who owns SN once?
she's fat. she's ugly. but god damn it... her dad owns sierra nevada.

Hmmm.... can you get Russian River stuff?
Taking a page out of his previous career in winemaking, Vinnie now ages several beers in used oak wine barrels. Their first barrel-aged release, Temptation, is a Blonde Ale aged for twelve months in used chardonnay barrels with Brettanomyces, a wild yeast feared by most brewers and winemakers. Supplication, their second barrel-aged beer, is a Brown Ale aged for twelve months in used pinot noir barrels with sour cherries, Brettanomyces, and two strains of bacteria that help naturally sour the beer.

Jeff's a patriot and a Republican.

He only drinks beer that was brewed in America by toothless banjo players painted in red, white and blue.
