I didn't mean it as an insult really... Australia really isn't one of the top brewing nations. They make some good beer there for sure, but it's no Germany or Belgium or UK.... even America has probably passed them at this point, though that wasn't the case a few decades ago. And of course beers perishable nature hurts imports...
I managed to find one of these last night:
Double IPA Triple... looking forward to it.

I would agree that America is the greater brewing nation, except for two things: Coors and Budwiser. If a nations brewing capabilities can be measured by the standard deviation from their mean/norm (aforementioned domestic beers), then America would have to be pretty damn consistently deviant.
There, I said... something.
Having said that, Sierra Nevada is farking alright.

The crazy thing is that up until a couple decades ago Bud/Miller was all we had... Coors was actually considered pretty high grade stuff when it first came out. Then Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada and Anchor came along, and next thing you know we've got double IPAs and Imperial Stouts coming out the ass.
Sierra Nevada is a great brewery. The pale ale is great, the porter is great, the stout is great, the Celebration ale is fucking amazingly great (big 'ol IPA), hell even the wheat is pretty good... the amazing thing is you can get SN anywhere, all over the country, yet I've never seen a single ad for them anywhere. While Sam Adams runs millions of dollars worth of slick TV adds designed to convince you it's all made in a single local brewery in Boston, SN is nearly as widely distributed but it just exists on it's own merits... and it should, it's a world class beer. Purest ingredients, finest quality.
Goddamnit I am such a beer geek...

Yeah, I know... so how many craft brewers do you actually have? The only other Australian brew I've seen over here is Cooper's, which is supposedly pretty good but I'm biased against imports in general so I haven't tried it.Don Eduardo";p="760766 wrote:Your previous comment was probably based on the fact that your idea of Australian beer is Foster's, right? Most countries' top export beers are inevitably the most boring or uninteresting. That's why they sell so much.
