Ian Watkins (Mike Patton fan) of Lostprophets pleads guilty

Pleads guilty to raping babies.

Even stranger, is I've seen this guy compared to Mike Patton in reviews a few times.

"In fact, as much as Gavin Rossdale was accused of trying to grift Kurt Cobain's very essence, Ian Watkins is just as guilty of reproducing Mike Patton's multi-faceted voice; whether it was sweet melodic intervention, the pseudo-rapping, or maniacal screaming, the entire Faith No More repertoire seems to be unleashed in The Fake Sound of Progress, the title alone a perfect set-up straight-line if you get right down to it."

"The Mike Patton scream Prophets vocalist Ian Watkins perfected on 2001's Fake Sound of Progress has -- like it did for Brandon Boyd and Doug Robb -- mellowed into a blandly earnest yawp capable of keeping things thick enough for the dudes but still rife with those heartfelt intakes of breath that the ladies love. "

"Faith No More are the greatest band ever. At least that's what you'd think listening to the six-piece Welsh group Lostprophets. Luckily, they're imitating one of the most innovative metal acts of all time. "Last Train Home" is one of the catchiest hard-rock songs to hit the radio in the past three years. Singer Ian Watkins has Mike Patton's croon/scream down cold, and his group deftly applies FNM's anything-goes approach: equal parts thrash riffs, symphonic keyboards and moody jazz intervals. It's a kick ass tribute"

"A cruelly apt title, this, since these immaculately-groomed show ponies of British nu-metal sound rather like hairy old Faith No More after a particularly heavy night of macho turmoil and turd-polishing."

RN: Do you think the Faith No More comparisons are unfair?
Stuart Richardson: Yeah I mean as far as Ian singing like Mike Patton in that kind of voice I think everyone sings like that. It’s like a language. In the 90s everyone sung like Mike Patton unless you were doing that silly shouty-rappy type thing. And now emo’s going to be the next big thing.

Lostprophets guitarist explaining why Ian Watkins never warmed up before shows

"Ian's the only one that doesn't warm up -- we all need to. He should warm up, you know? The only reason he doesn't is because he says Mike Patton didn't warm up. It's ridiculous."

The band even covered "The Real Thing" at a show...

What are your feelings on this baby-raping, Mike Patton worshiper? Do you hear a Patton influence?

"On "I Don't Know" vocalist Ian Watkins continues his Mike Patton impersonation, which ends up sounding identical to Brandon Boyd. "Start Something" closes with a beautiful piano piece, which no doubt shows that keyboardist/programmer Jamie Oliver was heavily influenced by Faith No More."
http://www.scenepointblank.com/reviews/ ... something/

"The sing along sounding ‘To Hell We Ride’ is as close as Watkins gets to his Mike Patton mannerisms."
http://www.blistering.com/fastpage/fpen ... 4/menuid/2

"In fact, much of Start Something tips its hat to another band that resisted being pigeonholed: Faith No More. Watkins's dynamic voice often echoes the singing of FNM frontman Mike Patton, while the group's blend of fierce guitars, tight rhythms, keyboards, and mellow interludes also shares similarities with the elder band. However, Lostprophets are no mere FNM clone; they take that group's sonic template and apply to it to the musical landscape of 2004."
