hmmmm, there's not many caucasian individuals who can "get away with" performing piedmont blues today.
I am not sure if this man is one of the few that can... yet. I say "yet" because I am not done soaking him up.
I will not say what the future may bring, but at this point.....
I just don't like the token put-on gravely howlin' wolf/tom waits voice.
female blues singers are terribly guilty of this. and no, I am not referring to koko taylor.
I am referring to females who think that putting on the koko taylor growl is the only way to sing (or is it project?) the blues.
also, please understand, when I say howlin' wolf/tom waits, I am not saying that his delivery reminds me of these greats.
truth be told, his delivery brought randy newman to mind.
however, he does appear to be quite the storyteller. he seems to have all the appropriate "old soul" quips,
which can be very entertaining/amusing. I for one, really admire a showman with street smarts
AND an outstanding sense of humor, especially when it comes to laughing at oneself.

sometimes I regret my timely fashion of showing up on this planet. I mean... can you imagine
witnessing a charley patton performance? especially charley's interaction with the "crowd".
"sorry if'n you don't like my voice, some dirty dog done up'n slit my throat.... please bottle up and try'n have a good time".

I don't love a parade, but I'd love to not be late to one for a change.

Th' Bullfrog is a funny muvva. i saw homeboy host a burlesque
variety show over halloween. dude had my side split open (wide).
He talks just like he sings: halfway between a shot of turpentine/whiskey
and a few Winston Selects. Dude can murder some Howlin' Wolf
I tell ya. He's a good as about any blues man u can name. well
sure he didn't pioneer that ol' stuff but he plays the hale outta it.

let us not confuse music for sports.
2 totally different ball games (CATCH that one? 8) )

I would like to see this guy live. I do like his playing and his general aura.
he seems very kind and easily approachable, which goes a long way with the people.
he also seems like he is always in the pocket, musically. well grounded. divine asset.
though sometimes I enjoy seeing the wheels fall off and the train keep rolling....
the engineer all smiles all along. it keeps me atop the dirt.
