Re: John Zorn - Christmas Song (Ft. Mike Patton) [Preview]
listened to the whole thing tonight , trying to wind down after a work binge .
its an excellent xmas album , we will definitely be opening presents to this , every year . the hammered dulcimer christmas hits album we have been using is getting tired . forget the fact patton is on the last tune , its just a mighty fine listen , for what it is . instrumental xmas music , thats not so bad .
cleaned the place up pretty good tonight . we have a fire inspection tomorrow , and some appraisal guy is coming with the landlord saturday . you gotta love invasion of privacy . come on in , would you like to check the back of my underwear drawer ?

the finished product is just the garbage left over from doing the work.

You appear to think of them in stereotypical terms. Have you heard Zorn's latest output? I highly doubt it judging by your commentary. It seems as if it was intended as a joke, if so, I'm not laughing. 50's Pastiche? Maybe, but if so it is a very poor one.

btw, did you check some of the other songs?
http://www.npr.org/2011/12/09/143453381 ... 1#playlist
no patton, just zorn.
very peaceful and soft.
maybe that will make things better for you.

i'm with michelle on this one ppl.
if a grown man/woman has mature love for a barnyard animal, they need venue(s) to express themselves where they won't be mocked or degraded. i say let these ppl wave their pink flag with the black sheep on the front.

dead inside? no humor? wow.
are you basing this judgement call on 1 or 2 posts or his entire post history here?
your answer to this question will not only showcase your accuracy upon pigeon holing, it will also
give great insight on your ability to make rational decisions based on proof ready data.

guys, guys, guys....we're getting off track here....
let's remember; it's about how shitty this cover album is, not toasty's deadness inside.

just calling it how I see it, and his online bunglefever character just seems cold and lifeless.
we go back a pretty long way, and i do remember him having more charme back them.
dont know what happend while i was out, but its like talking to a robot.
and this is not based on his opinion of this song, incase you, vapid penumbra guy, think it is.

Re: John Zorn - Christmas Song (Ft. Mike Patton) [Preview]
good luck on that one michelle . i live a few hours away from vapid , thats just his style . it takes me a while to read what he says , and then there is the chore of DE-cyphering it , then comes the comprehension task . oddly enough i THINK this comes natural to him , like as in quickly .
we spoke on the phone once , he was so quiet i couldn't hear him and he spoke in one to two word "sentences" .
that guy is a conundrum wrapped up in a riddle inside a fortune cookie .
honestly though , i think its safe to say he IS one of the good ones , and certainly have to say he gets an A+ for effort .
i just cant figure out which fake accounts are his , wait a minute ...
*looks back at thread*
you are everyone in this thread except shrapple ?
damn chris yer good !
oh and as far as this ALBUM goes , for some reason i really enjoyed what i heard , the musicianship and production makes up for the fact that its what it is . like i said , i am putting this on for present time for sure . the patton song , the inflections are odd in a handful of places , in a new way , so thats one thing i can say . it did come off ironic in a creepy sense to me . as much as i admire some of the guys work , i just get the feeling that there is some truth to the media image of "sicko patton" ... but who knows . remember that story about the gas station attendant who ran into him , he was driving a pink/purple samurai . that one was pretty good , "my" mike patton would be driving one of those hideous fuckin things .
i guess i see it as a lil ironic , what is going on here , john zorn = mr wierdo music freak or something does a straight up holiday album , respectfully . a few folks approve a few do not . it would be interesting to see how this would ave panned out if there was no name associated with the piece at all . just a thought . merry crimbus ;
what cha gonna get ?

Re: John Zorn - Christmas Song (Ft. Mike Patton) [Preview]
ah yes, but petey, you must realize... talking to you on the phone was like being in 3rd grade,
going to your 3rd grade homeroom teacher's funeral, and running into your 3rd grade homeroom teacher
in the funeral home's restroom toilet. yes in the toilet. a bit overwhelming and all at once.
not only that, I was partially silent due to the fact that I had a writing utensil furiously scratching out
rough shorthand of your recipes, pointers, and how-tos. if you remember correctly you were instructing
me on the ins and outs of making contact cleaner out of rubbing alcohol, pine sap, cajun vinegar,
and groundhog saliva. it was a very welcomed and appreciated conversation to say the least... which I did.
but I learneded the most. honest I deed. /lingohio
I recall talking to sharpps numerous times on the phone. it was also very beneficial to me, however...
upon hanging up, I always felt like the grandma with irritable bowl syndrome who unexpectedly just
pops in to visit you... while you are taking a bath. that's right, I am referring to a lack of shame here
on my part (among other things). but sharpps was always quite the courteous gentleman. look at
me, talking as if he has marched upward to meet the lord. I am sure something. something else.
oh maxwell house, you truly are my one true home. *sips*

Now this is a Christmas Song. Suits those of us who are dead inside or those who live beyond a superficial layer when it comes to pursuits within popular culture or those of us not "All surface and no feeling*".

actually, I have never been professionally diagnosed,
but a majority of the gentlemen in my NAMBLA den refer to me as a "highbrow giver".
