I rented Manhattan, because people say good things about Woody Allen and I didn't have a proper frame of reference.
Holy damn, was this movie shot and directed well.

Recommend! Please!

Since Allen is rated very highly there's always a danger of someone overrating him. I still don't find him to be obiously overrated. Tarantino or Coppola would be much clearer candidates for that in my opinion. Woody Allen is a great film maker.

I never much cared for Allen. I found Annie Hall quite boring. But Love and Death is hysterical, as is Bullets Over Broadway.

Bingo. He's crafted a persona of himself that overshadows his actual work. Christopher Walken did something similar, which is why people tend to forget how GREAT he was in Catch Me if You Can.
