It's astounding how crap a reasonable actor can be made to look in a dud movie.

I can't remember the last time Sheen was in a good film.
He had a cameo in Hot Shots. I remember that.

I just checked IMDb. He sure has been in a lot of shit.

I haven't seen The Departed. He was in that.
So the last movie he was in and I saw and liked was War At Home in 1996.

That's a pretty dry spell.

Then he did Spawn.

His role in Departed is not something you could really get wrong.He's no Baldwin and that's for sure.

Spawn had the Merlin guy. Thus: win.
