Are pale ales/ESBs called bitters over there?
I had a pretty decent ESB last night, actually.

Name some Belgium's you like.
I don't dislike web-beer rating sites. They're the place that taught me ESB = Extra Special Bitter. Bitters are their own thing, separate from Pale Ales.

Saison Dupont, Corsendonk, Chimay, Duval... honestly, everything from Belgium rocks.

They have sub-types of bitters, I don't really see that here.
Except for ESB, and I knew what that meant without some beer rating site.
I don't like beer rating sites, because I prefer recommendations from people who know what I drink, or just finding it on my own. I disagree with a lot of the "ratings"

Chimay is great.

Yeah, I believe it's bitters, special bitters, and ESBs... the style isn't very popluar in America so most brewers don't seem to bother with that. The name also don't really work in America what with all the Imperial IPA going around these days. The most bitter bitters are quite mild by today's standards.

I agree with you about recommendations for the most part, but rating sites that aggregate a lot of different user reviews do hold some say with me... if 300 people had a beer and 280 said it was great, I'll have some of that beer.

Chimay is great. Especially the blue and red labels...

We need a glossary of terms so I don't get lost.
