Real offer Baptista in Reyes deal
Fri 11 Aug, 10:45 AM

Real Madrid are set to up their bid to land Arsenal star Jose Antonio Reyes and will offer one-time Gunners target Julio Baptista in return.Los Merengues are desperate to take Reyes to the Spanish capital as part of new coach Fabio Capello's Bernabeu revolution.

And they know the Gunners came close to signing Baptista in the past when he was a Sevilla player.

Now club president Ramon Calderon, frustrated at missing out on Kaka and Arjen Robben, is willing to offload Baptista in bid to close a deal for Reyes.

According to El Mundo Deportivo Arsenal and Real are around 10 million Euros apart in their valuation of Reyes, and Baptista could bring down the asking price.

He only joined Real last summer but struggled to hold down a regular first-team place during his first season in Madrid.

Nice choice of purple for the text.
Goes swimmingly with my hangover.

Take him for sure! Best deal ever!

A strong attacker like him would give Arsenal much more weight up front, they've looked anorexic for a while.

Oh and the purple text was really gay.

Purple is the official gay colour after all. Well, technically color since the yank gays decreed the purple to be the designated colour of homosexuals (pink was taken by the dilute socialists).

I read somewhere once that purple was the colour of the sexually-deprived. I've never heard anything about it since, so I can't comment as to its authenticity as a science.

It's worn by fat women who like astronomy, so I could see how that worked...

Pink=vanity doesn't it?

Oucho!

I have a "teenage cancer" wristband from the great rubber band charity fad of last year that was purple.

I wonder what charities are going to do with that sudden influx of money in 2005? Can't see anyone wearing them anymore, nor can I see a replacement.

Charity - fashionable in 2005.

I wrote a blog about that. I got hammered for it. Lotsa messages.

Conditional charity is for cunts.

I think in the blog I compared them to the stickers they give to children outside supermarkets when you donate to the RNLI or the Dogs For The Blind (personally, I'd prefer to give a dog to someone who can see and therefore look after it properly. I'd love to see the RSPCA's view on these fuckos), It seems the mentallity we give kids at a young age to be charitable and expect a reward (sticker, wristband) never leaves the individual even in adulthood. Awareness? Bollobs. A poster is cheaper, bigger and more noticable than a wristband.

I concur.

That, and kids need to be taught to be able to care without material incentive.

You sure that isn't really dark blue?

Just checked it is navy. The season before last was navy too. That was one of my favourites.

Still like this one from last season. Same as my grey one, only Claret and grey not Grey and yellow.

I love the detail on the swoosh. I'm glad they make a point of it.

For £20 shirts and comparing them to the kit proper they're far better quility. So much detail and the fabrics are usually better too.

Rick, what do you reckon about this:

-------------Lehmann-------------

Lauren/Eboue---Toure---Senderos---Flamini/Glichy

-------------Gilberto---
-----------------------Baptista----------
Freddie/Helb-------------------------Rosicky
----------------Fabregas-----------------

----------------------------Henry-------

What would you change?

-------------Lehmann-------------

Freddie/Helb-------------------------Rosicky
----------Baptista/Van Persie----------------

I like the all red training top, but yeah, it is madness that the training tops are cheaper than the replica kits.

Club shops need to reduce the price of their replica kits for members. As an Arsenal member I get 10% discount on a transaction once a year. :/

There should be a significant reduction for people who actively support the club - whatever the club.

Immit!
Prices have been frozen on replica shirts for a few years (40 quid), but clubs have been changing them more and more.

Cunt$

When Aberdeen switched to Nike in2004-2005, I thought aboot buying a home top for the first time in 20 years. They changed it subtly after one season  , changed it again for this season.

No fucking danger am I wasting my wonga on that.

Aberdeen now have a "red army" points sytem too, for the Dons Fundamentalist that wants to shop in a few select shops on Union street. Helpful when I live in fucking Edinburgh.

Speaking of inconsiderate. I was going to get tickets to watch Arsenal play Man City this year and after the game take the Mrs to Greens restaurant (probably the best veggie restaurant in the world). However, the fixtures were released it's the 26th August and I'm on holiday. Cunts.

Well, kind of. We're either going to watch Bolton v Arsenal or Blackburn v Arsenal later in the season.

I would like them to try Rosicky as a strike partner for Henry at least once. Everything else is golden.

I see Rosicky as an attacking midfielder. I think he's stronger in the centre, pushing forward, but we'll see him in a 5 man midfield I think, supporting from Bergkamps position...where I stuck Van P and Fabregas.

As it stands, since Reyes appears to be staying now, VP / Rosicky should share the rwf/ss role with Reyes providing cover for the LWF position behind Henry, alternating through the season with Rosicky.

Reyes was phenominial last year. I'm quite sadened by his wish to leave. Ca$hley Cole can fuck off.
