Got the kids Super Mario Galaxy 2, looks very good. IO've got the shits today so as I'm staying off I might give it a blast.

I find Red Dead Redemption quite dull.

Unless the SP gets a bit less "long periods of fuck all roaming then sudden attack by a posse of superior foes who kill you" centric and the online perks up, I'll be swapping it...

I absolutely loved Halo: Reach. The Campaign completely had be absorbed and determined to defeat it. I refused to start the game on normal and started on Legendary. Each time I completed a level it felt like I completed a new game, it felt like an Epic. I love the online modes which is enlivened by the sprint/shield/holograph perks and although the Armour upgrades are little more than window dressing they still add a little value to the title and unlocking the whole armoury is something aim for.

I miss Halo. Best shooter ever.

Am really tempted to go for a new PS3 and Xbox 360 double-combo next year...best of both worlds.

A lot of people are currently grumbling about Halo: Reach but I love the thing. If the alternative to this "kids game" is GTA then I'm happy being a child.

Medal of Honour is very poor as expected. Was fortunate enough to get some time with it pre-release so now can inform those around me of its shiteness.

Black Ops is out soon, with Treyarch making the thing since the acrimony with the former heads of Infinity Ward and the upcoming lawsuits over the Modern Warfare property rights Treyarch really ought to ensure they don't drop the ball. They have a glorious opportunity here. Anyone who played Modern Warfare 2 multi-player would have probably been amazed with the wealt of game modes and options, development and in game tasks/targets, but if you pop in MW1, you'll see that the actual game playing experience is nowhere near as fluid, clean and tight in the second installment (Joe, give MW1 a go this morning - you'll be surprised at how shit it looks but how great it plays).

I recently got the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Wii game for the Children for Christmas but have read so many great things about it I am very tempted to break it out and give it a go.

I might pick up Monster Hunter Tri soon for the Wii. I missed a golden opportunity last week when I saw it for £9.99 not knowing what the hell it was, I've read some reveiws and it looks pretty good (now the cheapest price is £22.00 - I'll wait).

When I bought Halo: Reach I found a cheap second hand copy of ODST. Having read reviews and spoken with trusted friends and former colleagues working in that sector I was aware of the game's shortcomings, but understood it was still a good but short game. I'm enjoying it. I might even pick up Halo Wars on the cheap...might.

A few months back (August) I was given a copy of Red Dead Redemption. We all know it's just "Grand Theft Horse" but it's entertaining enough - as was GTA but there's something lacking from this format which leaves me wanting. I can't put my finger on it. It feels as though the content is shallow and the game is empty - just what I felt about GTA III and IV.

Batman Arkham City is also shaping up well. I loved Arkham Asylum. I hope to be playing this on release day.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising promised to be the spiritual Successor to the original Ghost Recon games. Unforgiving AI, realistic ballistics, natural and open environments and a realistic-ish plot-line. In fact it was not the complete clusterfuck the press would have you beleive. It wasn't as hard as they made out, the makers of the game always said the AI would be unforgiving (the AI did not differ between difficulty settings, the difference is just the availability of a radar in normal and not in hard) which it was, the aim of the game wasn't run to a checkpoint like MW2 and Halo Reach, it required skill and patience and these two are not in their abundance with modern gamers. The main flaws were with glitches and a feeling sometimes that the team mate AI wasn't subject to any quality control. Little things became major annoyances, such as in Co-op mode only the host could pick up weapons from fallen enemies, the second player would only get more ammunition. This sounds a slight problem but it was a pain in the rear. Still I enjoyed the game and felt the overall difficulty inherent in the game and discipline required to beat it made it a very rewarding experience so I am pleased that a sequel is due. This time I hope they don't rush the thing like last time as they were way over their (fourth!) deadline.

The lead from N+ is an unlockable character. Great game. Did play N+ but as it wasn't as childish as Super Meatboy I didn't give it much time.

Rock Band 3's "Pro Mode" makes any music game before it seem childish.

Yes, the new castlevania is poor.

Rock Band just knocked Modern Warfare 2 our of the metacritic/gamerankings top ten Xbox 360 games of all time. The line up looks like this right now:

360:
1. The Orange Box 96.19%
2. Grand Theft Auto IV 96.17%
3. Mass Effect 2 95.66%
4. BioShock 94.95%
5. Red Dead Redemption 94.45%
6. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 94.08%
7. Gears of War 93.89%
8. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 93.79%
9. Rock Band 3 93.62%
10. Halo 3 93.53%

I'm very pleased that when considering all platforms over the last 12 months, Persona 3 is in the top 10. I still can't believe with all the RPG love there is on this site that no one has picked up on Persona 3 FES or Persona 4! Better than the Final Fantasy games of late by far.

Black ops. Good. Different to MW1 and 2. Not necessarily better but different. More fluid, crisper, brighter colours. Not played campaign yet.
