On a side note, is Red Alert 3 the one with Ric Flair being beaten up by a guy in a bear suit?

That's the expansion...

This is the one where Peter Stormare exclaims "MY.....TIME.... MACHINE!!" dramatically in every scene

Funny you should say that. I just bought Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (£2.00  ) and have reconnected my PS2. I'm really enjoying it. I'm on the scout for a second hand copy of Snake Eater for under a fiver now and also God of War for about the same price. The PS2 was rarely used here and I currently own a paltry amount of games, two of which I only kept as they have no resale value.

Final Fantasy XII
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Smackdown: Bring the Pain
Pro Evolution Soccer 3 (Arguably their masterpiece)

I did have Gran Tourismo 3 which I felt was great but not as good as the original Forza so sold it.

I'm really enjoying the camp silliness of MGS2 but it doesn't really come close to Chaos Theory or even the original Splinter Cell in my view.

Xbox Demos:

Tom Clancy's Hawx: Beautifully detailed maps, handles well, a solid variety with the planes all handling slightly differently. Seems that the demo offered everything the full game will offer.

Ninja Gaiden 2: Forgettable dynasty warriors type game. I didn't like double dragon or golden axe. Making this shit prettier won't help.

R-type Dimensions: I loved R-type on my CPC. God knows why. The game has not aged gracefully. Some things are best left as forgotten treasures of he past never to be salvaged.

Legends of Wrestlemania - Awful game. Terrible fight mechanics. Like playing paper scissors rock but in a bad way. Fire Pro and King of Colossus still rule.

Moto GP 09 - I loved Moto GP 2 on the original Xbox...but I couldn't be fucked with this. Seems to have been made for the arcadey types and this was not where Moto GP's strengths were.

Right now I feel like revisiting Metroid 2 echoes, but can't find my gamecube controllers. :(

Screw that.
MGS2 is amazing.
I will probably play some later, or MGS3. I never did complete them on European Extreme.

I spoke too soon. The forgotten horror of MGS has resurfaced , it's problems not corrected. The game is 4/5ths cutscene and the plot goes batshit stupid and becomes really fucking tiresome very quickly. What a crap game. It starts well but Raiden drives this porsche off a cliff. Glad I paid only £2.00, some poor fuckers spent £45.00 on this. Very, very poor show. No wonder Konami's going down the shitter.

Not sure about how the new one is getting on. But Metal Gear Solid 2 earned Konami millions and was its flagship game...

Pro Evo 6 also sold shitloads. It was crap too. Are you saying the buying public are the deciders of the benchmark of excellence?

It's not my fault if people generally have shit for brains/taste.

the first MGS was better in almost every way.
they redid the gameplay of MGS with the graphics/control of the second one on the Gamecube. That was pretty cool.

I prefer MGS also. And I almost bought a Gamecube soley for that game.
But, MGS2 sold incredibly well, and to link that with Konami going down the pan is crazy.
It's more due to stupid movie tie-ins like Hellboy.

he never said anything about sales / financial ruin.
there's lots of ways to go down the shitter.

In what way has Konami gone down the shitter?

Fair does.
I got PES2008 and only played it once or twice. Never really been into PES though.
Buying MGS4 on Saturday so will comment again then.

Peggle. Great fun. Questionable longevity, but for this price point it's a bargain.

Only play internet chess at chess.com and some solitaire every now and then. Mostly I gamble (horses), is that considered gaming by the way?

I'm still in love with the ASCII, console based scrabble (program called 'scribble') in the Debian Linux repos. The difficulty settings vary wonderfully. You can beat the computer whilst drunk or be pummeled after reading the dictionary.

The only kind thing I can say about Res 5 is that it looks nice. Partner AI is very bad, control again is awful (turn speed, have to stop moving to shoot...) I feel Capcom need to wake up and make changes where they were necessary.

Street Fighter 4 is a modern replication of the SNES version.

How do I know this? Because a mate of mine who has never used a PS3 but had the SNES version, kicked my ass with Guile the other night, on his first go!

I agree on the Partner AI, but the real gravy is in co-op. So much fun. The controls were only an issue for me during "The Mercenaries" sub-game.
Although the game is way too quick to finish, too.
