I would agree that America is the greater brewing nation, except for two things: Coors and Budwiser. If a nations brewing capabilities can be measured by the standard deviation from their mean/norm (aforementioned domestic beers), then America would have to be pretty damn consistently deviant. I haven't met a Claret that didn't belong in a sleazy caberet bar. Same with Chablis. Both have been excommunicated from my palette as the kinds of wine you need to spend a decent amount on in order to get a decent one. Merlot and Pinot Noir, however, can be as cheap as chips and they still taste go...

I went on a wine tour in the Hunter Valley on the weekend.

The highlight was the Ivanhoe Cellar Door.

I was absolutely maggotted, and tripping a little from the Zyban. No seizures though.
