It's not remotely of the same ilk. Well, maybe in the sense that it's smart, funny, has a compelling season-long story arc & piles o' emotional truth. Okay, I'll stop now. I didn't like "Angel" either. I don't lump them together. In some ways I like television better than film. I think...

Pan's Labyrinth

I thought this was fantastic. Very dark and grisly. Great acting and effects. Reminded me a bit of Terry Gilliam. Now I need to rent "Devil's Backbone," apparently.

I liked it. My expectations were rather low after hearing some bad things about it, so I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. I don't really get the whole "Johnny Depp thing" a lot of the time, but he was excellent in this.

No, I thought the last season was truly awful with the exception of two episodes, and the entire montage was really cheesy -- in a bad way (yes, the Brenda/Billy scene was funny, but the "sad" scenes were campy-funny to me, too). And I swear I don't just hate "Six Feet Under." I ...

I hated the last season! Thought it was awful! Although there were a couple of really good episodes near the very end that almost made up for it. I'm sorry to say that I even thought the montage at the end of the finale was goofy. Actually, it made me giggle.

I loved the way it was shot. There are several chaotic, extended-take action scenes in it that are just brilliant...especially the one at the end.

Goes downhill QUICK after the first couple of seasons, though those are very good.

The new show Michael C. Hall is in, "Dexter," is pretty awesome so far.

Re: Food you hate

Onions and bell peppers (capsicum) unless completely pulverized, like pimientos or French onion soup. It seems like they are in nearly everything, and I gag on them. I can't eat anything raspberry since the time I pigged out on raspberry sherbet after a big Thai meal and puked, about 15 years ago. I...

Re: Red Curry Shrimp

I don't care about any of that crap as long as *I* get to eat shrimp, or anything else for that matter.

Clam juice is way different than fish sauce. The recipe calls for salt instead of fish sauce, just to keep things simple I think. I use fish sauce, and your additions would also be very good.

Frittata I make this all the time because it's easy and I can use whatever is handy: Cook vegetables of your choice to near-doneness in skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic, or however you like. Blend 4 to 6 eggs, some grated hard cheese of your choice, oregano, basil, salt & pepper, e...
