I would have loved it if all these Joy Division movies had come when I was in school. It's a bit ho-hum now.

do you know which one you saw? if you ask me, the show can do without devito I know what you mean, but obviously the star power allowed them to demand more of a budget. The show gets really interesting in the second and third season because they can expand a bit more. Charlie in particular is great...

Pretty damn good. Seems like a run-of-the-mill picaresque coming of age story, but so much more.

I was looking for Herzog at the store, but they only had Augie. Apparently Bellow's talents really started to come out post-Augie March, so I'm probably going to read them in that order.

Yawn. Trust "that one" to do that to the thread.

I'm now officially an utter bitch for Saul Bellow.

Last few for me have been re-reads (Crime And Punishment, Foucault's Pendulum and Blood Meridian). Old favourites.

I've just started Augie March. My first Saul Bellow. I can see myself becoming a massive fan.

R.I.P.

This series got me attuned to reading "big books". For that reason alone it's important to me. Along with that, an author perishing while working on something unfinished (no matter how immaterial it may be to some) is always an unfortunate thing.

It's hard to support a manager after a match like that. Jol made possibly the worst substitutions I've seen all season. Up 3-1 so he throws Defoe on at Keane's expense, even though all game his and Berbatov's runs were basically setting up a shot on goal every attack. Defoe just stood around as usua...

Hmm. Bent and Berb haven't shared the field yet, but I've been thinking they could be ok together. They can both run off each other when Robinson clears, they're both handy in the air. Defoe's the one who looks like he may be out of his depth. He's just too one-dimensional.

I'm going to continue believing that there is more to Bale's game than that. I'm pretty sure he took all the free kicks and corners, and didn't waste any. That ball on to Rocha's fat head should've been fucking in. Argh.

Should have scored two at least. They only had one proper shot all day, and looked absolutely terrible in the final third. God I hope one day to see Spurs get a win over those fucks. Bale looks amazing. We finally had width on the left. Berbatov was getting close to his form of last season in that s...

Much better look to the team when a left back is fit, even if it is Lee. I really hope these rumours of bringing in Matty Taylor come good soon, because the this Man U game is going to be a bastard. They're going to be out for blood. Gardner and Rocha better be watching what Sven City did last night...

This is the first time in a long while I've seen a Spurs supporter defending Jenas. How many games have you seen where you've nearly completely forgotten he's on the field? The two games of the season thus far have been wholly representative of his Spurs career. He's playing at the centre of midfiel...
