Are his other movies this...extreme? If so, I think I'll pass. This made me physically ill/queasy at that last scene. This one 's supposed to be not so extreme, but I can't confirm that since I haven't seen it myself yet. It's on my Netflix queue, though. I'll try to remember to come back here and ...

Gattaca. I'm not a huge fan of Ethan Hawke, or of Uma Thurman, but I really dug this film.

Great film, I also liked the Showtime remake with Jack Lemmon and George C. Scott. I dunno when they're finally gonna release that on DVD though (it's only available on video at the moment  ).

I've been on an Asian movie kick lately as well. Watched Visitor Q over the weekend. I know it's not Miike's most audacious or fucked up movie, but it's still pretty fucked up. Loved Oldboy, am anxiously awaiting Sympathy for Mister Vengeance and Lady Vengeance. According to my Netflix queue Kyua (C...

Horror movies = not horrific. At last we agree on something. Personally I think the problem is that people apply that label pell-mell to movies that don't really deserve it, to the point where it becomes just a genre/tag instead of actually meaning what it says; all the shit coming out of Hollywood...

Jesus, what syllable of "horror" don't you comprehend? If it doesn't scare, it's not fucking horror. It can't be stated any more simply. A movie can be "enjoyable" or "entertaining", but that doesn't make it horror.

Hollywood doesn't produce good horror. We might as well be comparing the smell of our faeces. False. I don't get horrified by horror movies. So I enjoy them for different reasons. You're actually reinforcing my statement with this. A movie liked for different reasons than to be horrified ≠ good hor...
