Re: rise and fall of WCW

I'll probably check it out but I'll no doubt get annoyed at whatever revisionist slant they put on things. That said, it is an incredibly interesting story. I've seen something similar on another dvd somewhere (the Monday Night Wars?) and watching that then hearing context in other non-official acco...

Crying Freeman - lots of nekkid killing fun.

Mad Bull 34 - Great rookie/veteran NY cop series.

Both well violent.

Re: highlight of your day?

After I got out of work I caught a tram home. It's only 5 stops home and down hill; it's about a 12 min stumble too far by the time I get out of there anywhere between 11pm and midnight and can no longer utter the phrase "would you mind holding a moment?". Got off the tram, and as typical ...

Re: ribs

I've caught a couple of episodes of The World Barbecue Championships (strangely enough made up entirely of people from Tennessee and Tejas) and it is fucking hilarious. After a little while some serious echolalia sets in and you can slip right into spouting the jargon. They talk about their custom m...

Re: Recent films. A very brief opinion.

Recently watched Going Down Under , the American distrobution of the never released Australian film Meat Pie . I'd put it up there as the most atrocious film I've ever seen. It is crass, racist, sexist, and offensive in pretty much every imaginable way. It is also almost entirely sans a script to sp...

I watched Zombie Strippers last night.

Excellent script, beautiful cinematography and an acting tour de force.

Re: one search result for anime

I've just gotten back into this. Amazing how many are complete on youtube. A lot of them aren't appealing as I remember (guyver for one) but I rewatched Macross Plus and thoroughly enjoyed that. I'm making my way through the Devilman trilogy at the moment and its cool so far. Also downloaded Patlabo...

Re: Darkly Dreaming Dexter

There are 4 books in the series so far. Third is nothing like the third season of the TV show. Fourth gets more on track with the series again apparently, but there are some large diversions of plot and character emphasis e.g. The kids being 'damaged' like Dexter in the books.

Re: Darkly Dreaming Dexter

First two were very fun. Third was garbage. Why the fuck would you introduce magic into a story like Dexter? I've not read the 4th instalment but by all accounts it's quite funny.

Another good Gordon-Levitt film is "The Lookout."

I found that movie quite odd. Very unrealistic (or perhaps just surreal) at times.

Re: Russell fuckin' Crowe....

I was waiting for this. You've alienated all those that love and care for you to the point of them vomiting their colons due to distraught confusion, but until now I was yet to find myself in your, frankly, effeminate cross hairs. You've really changed since you went commercial. Thanks Tori Spelling...

I'd like to chuck Perfect Blue and Paprika into the ring as brilliant mindfucks from our Japanese cohorts from recent years. Haven't done any series since I was 12 so I can't comment on this 'OAV' thing that sweeps through the internet populations from #DALnet to Bunglefever. Rather pervasive but.
